I purchased this grill 2 years ago. Loved it cooked beautifully. In August it stopped working purchased a new cord as recommended by others . Worked great. Attempted to use it last week and it stopped working again. I keep the grill covered in winter months. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this grill. Very very disappointed in this grill.

Really Tried to love this

After replacing parts multiple different occasions over the course of 3 years I have finally decided to throw in the towel. I wanted to love this grill, but due to all the issues it gave me, I can 100% certainly recommend against buying this grill. The short time it functioned properly I really enjoyed it. The good just never got close to out weighing the bad.

Glitchy technology and Poor Customer Service

It's great when everything works, but it's been hit or miss. Bluetooth only connects to 2.4ghz so you have to turn of 5ghz on your router in order for it to connect. Door switches failed within first year. Flap on fan warped due to faulty design and cost $40 to replace from Char Giller. Also, Fed Ex lost the package and Char Griller would not send a replacement and told me to file a claim with Fed Ex. Only e-commerce company that does that to their customers so beware.

We used the grill once - then fan stopped working. We’ve been trying to get someone to help us from Chargrill since January with no resolution and now we cannot return the product to Lowe’s as there is only a 90 day window on eligible purchases. Buyer beware - you’ll be stuck with a smoker that doesn’t work with no customer service support from either Lowe’s or chargrill. Very disappointed for the price point.

Lasted three years

Three years in as my primary outdoor cooker, and soon it's headed for the curb. Don’t buy anything from Lowe’s

I never got a chance to try it, after a nightmare experience getting it delivered with constant reschedules and no consideration given to a working family with two small children, I received the assembled grill with a bolt sheared off and missing the power cord and meat probe. When I called to get it fixed I was told Lowe’s couldn’t help even though I just paid them and that I’d have to track the parts down myself thru the manufacturer. I ended up returning the grill which again was a huge pain ...

Delivery is the worst!

if Loews isn't delivering don't buy from them. their contractors are the worst i have ever seen.

So Far So Good!!

I honestly don't know what's up with the bad reviews. I plugged it in, downloaded the App and was able to connect and control it via Bluetooth right away. It took me a minute to figure out how to get it lit but that was on me and the fact that I don't do instructions, LOL. Added to that that it was marked half price I couldn't turn it down. Love it so far!!!

Not a great grill

I got this grill for my husbands bday grill and it has been a pain ever since. From the start we could never get the heat to stay consistent. It was always over heating. The the cord wouldn’t work so we had to buy a new one. Then this last fall my husband was smoking a brisket and the whole grill went up in flames. Burned the outside and inside up. My husband has smoked meat for years and this has been the worst experience with a smoker.

Pro: The charcoals are placed in the hopper. The temperature is easily adjusted with the knob. Con: The way you light it is akward. Please make sure you season it and clean the hopper for the next use or it will not light properly. The charcoal ashes do not drop down like they should, but for 279.00 it was a bargain. The cover was originally 60.00 but was clearance for 17.00 and the wood grill cleaner for less than 4.00.

I had 2 of the these grills. The first one, the temp wouldn’t keep. It reached goal temp then dropped 40-50 degrees. Went back to Lowe’s and had them replace with a new one. Used it today for the first time and I have error code saying open when all the doors are closed. Waste of money. AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!!👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿 And you can’t call char griller, you can only contact them through email 👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿

Char-Griller Gravity Fed

I purchased my grill on August 3, 2023 and haven't been able to cook on it yet. The temperature will not go any higher than 150 degrees and the grill wasn't completely assembled when it was shipped to me (which I paid for).

Nice smoker, but can't be controlled wirelessly

I was excited to purchase this smoker but have become very disappointed. After spending a couple of hours putting it together, I tried to download the mobile app from the Google Play Store and learned that the mobile app hasn't been updated since July 2022 and CANNOT be downloaded on my phone (Samsung S22 Ultra) because the app was made for older OS versions. You can't even connect to it via Bluetooth without the app. I contacted Char-Griller support and was assured that the "devs are working ...

Disappointed in 980

I really loved this Chargriller 980 in the beginning but 2 days after warranty runs out the silicone flapper on fan box burnt up and it looks as if I need to buy a $100 part to keep it from happening again. Not happy! I definitely expected a higher quality grill for the money. 😡😡
