Exceeded my expectations

I bought this thing hoping that I would get 11 hours on tank of gas as advertised. I was well pleased that it did just that. It’s not very loud comparatively speaking. It has plenty of power to power all my essentials and then some. It cranks on the very first pull almost every time, second pull for sure. Trust me you will be happy with this purchase.

Performed when it was needed

We lost power at 3:13am on a Thursday morning during hurricane Zeta and it wasn't back on by 5pm the same day. Ran out to grab this generator and it saved our fridge stash. I did follow the recommended oil change after 5 hours of run time, started it back up and ran it for another 10 hours, only stopped to add more fuel. It's a BEAST!

Hurricane Zeta made landfall over 1,000 miles from us but we got slammed with 50+ mph winds (for two days!) and rain. Dependable

This is the second storm responder I’ve owned. I live on the southeast coast of Texas, Hurricane power outages are the norm for my family. I just upgraded my old 5500 watt to this 6250. My home is nearly 3K square foot and it’s running my entire home, two fridges and a deep freeze with the excepting of my 5 ton central air. It easily handles all appliances with a couple 12k but window units.

Great generator

Once you get it put together, it is wonderful! Has a very clear way of plugging each item in. Easy to use and barely sips gas! Great for after storm usage!

Great unit

Purchased this generator in preparation for Hurricane Laura. Kept my refrigerator, A/C window unit, lamp and misc small electronics plugged up with no issues. It's a bit noisy and the gas gauge is terribly inaccurate but the generator itself was a lifesaver while our power was out for 4 days. Would buy again.

Defective

Feels like 110 degrees after Laura got this Generator 36 hours ago, I have had nothing but problems with it, burns oil fast and cut off after Running for 30 mins, now it will run for 10 mins and cut off, its in a safe area lots of air, fresh gas, oil level is right, runs on 30 percent load, very disappointed in Lowe’s only providing generator that cost so high, I feel like this company price gouged a lot of people.

Nice Generator

This generator works well. It's heavy built and good quality. A nice feature is the electronic display which shows percent of power being used. This is very helpful when managing the connected loads. Uses a lot of gas (about $35/day) when loaded about 65%. But the on-board tank holds a lot of gas - nearly 10 gallons. Fuel shut off valve

As soon as I poured fuel in the fuel tank, fuel started leaking where the shut off valve connects to the tank. Lowe's would not exchange the generator. They would only give a refund. I didn't need a refund, I needed a generator. Briggs and Stratton told me to take it to an authorized repair center. The authorized repair center they directed me to would not do warranty repair because they didn't sell the generator. Strong and Dependable but Loud

I have a similar older model of the 8500/5500 for 15 years. Living in South Florida for 38 years I drain and change the oil every spring and then siphon the gas out and run it dry. I then put in 5 gallons of gas with Sta-Bil and run it for five minutes. I turn the on/off switch to off until it stalls out then turn off the fuel cock. Bought this to power our house after a tornado at this point it has been running continuously for a week and still going strong.

CO detection DOA

Started up 1st pull even though below 0 degree... Nice. Ran about 15 minutes then shut down. The Blue CO Guard lights flashing. Owners manual said to bring in to Authorized Dealer for service. I upgraded from one star to two because I unplugged the sensor and it stayed running and got us through a power outage.

Ready for hurricane season!

As expected, after researching, this is one of the few that aren't throw away. With a Briggs & Stratton you can buy parts and have lots of servicing dealers if needed.

I have the equivalent to this in the troy bilt 8500-6250, same motor, I had my house wired w a reliance 30 amp inlet to a manual transfer switch, I tested how much I could run living in a 2 story house on coast of NC, I was able to run my 1.5 ton central A/C (as I ran it 1st and for about 10 mins) then I powered up my fridge for a few minutes, I then powered up my chest freezer then my stand up freezer, My meter said I was running at 4100 watts at this point,, I powered up the rest of the house ...

Easily assembled . Looks great . Started easily ! Plugged in phone fridge and lamps after hurricane Dorian knocked out power .
