Did the Trick

this was a good choice needed to reinforce the family room floor due to a remodeling project and this post did the trick and was just what we needed

Pieces missing

Hard to rate since I wasn't able to use it. When it arrived all I got were two tubes, two end plates and two nuts for the bolts (not included). No bolts to connect the tubes and no adjusting screw to raise it. I had no problem returning it to the local Lowes. Don't know if I'll order another one from Lowes (they don't stock them in my store so I can't check them before buying). May see what their competitors have to offer.

Big Moe not really a consumer product

Don't buy this thinking it is a usable product right out of the box by the average consumer. It is a box of rough pieces needing to be worked on--you need tools. First, you need small files to deburr the dinged up screw threads so you can turn it into or out of the nut without binding every turn or so. Then, you may need (I did) a 3 ft threaded rod, nuts and washers and a 2-in grinding wheel to mount on it so you could put in a drill in order to smooth out the rough seam inside the large pipe...

The product itself was great but parts missing

The product itself was great but there were parts missing. We ended up going to two different Lowe's to get a total of 6 posts. 3 of the 6 were missing parts. This was very time consuming. The salesman, when asked if he was sure if all the parts were in the boxes, ( Because the had been taped up) said he could not open them but to take them home and if something was missing to bring it back. We will be bringing them back.

ONLY RECEIVED PARTIAL DAMAGED SHIPMENT

Taking all things into consideration, it is hard to give this purchase a positive review. My shipment arrived in a flimsy box which was completely open on one end. Out of the whole purchase, I only received two poles and one of the end plates, thus am missing various hardware. The two poles took a beating in shipment and have various deep scratches which I assume now makes them vulnerable to rust...not a good thing here in hot, humid Florida. i was impressed

The woman and then a man were very helpful and for that I was happy. I had a Jack Post in my basement {several} and this is the second time this post, in this spot has rusted thru. I've owned my home now 30 years so I went to purchase a new post to replace the old .Thought I would get two and replace the other one as it is getting bad. Need to be better designed

Hard to adjust in tight spots being there is only one spot for any adjustments instead of having a hex shape all the way around which would make adjustments easier. Had to use a pipe wrench which marred the shaft, but didn't damage the threads.

Great Product bad Lowes Store

This item is great easy to assemble, adjust and mount. My problem is not with the product, but with the store where I first bought it. I bought 3 of these for my new home during construction at Lowes of Robinson Township in one of the Pittsburgh, Pa. suburbs. When I bought them the associate in the building supplies dept. assured me that they were complete even though two of them had been previously open and taped shut. CHECK THE BOX!!!

Make sure all the parts are in the box before you walk out of the store. 3/5 in stock at lowes were missing parts, only 2 were complete and no more complete sets could be made from the remaining boxes. AKRON Really needs to re-think the packaging on these. Epoxy or tack the threaded ring in place as others said. This does need a 1" wrench.

TAMPCO BIG MOE FLOOR JACKS

Bought four of these to raise the house just enough to replace part of the sill plate and riser joist. The ONLY thing I did was replace the 1/2" bolts that came with the jacks with 5/8th" bolts. While others complained about having to use 3/4" pins with the other jacks ( I prefer the pins), I have never had an issue with them.

Did pinch my fingers but this jack post is a brute

Pinch fingers when sliding the inner post into the bottom section, but that's' my clumsiness. This jack post is very strong and beefy, used it with a 20ton bottle jack and had no worries.

Average floor jack

I used the jack to hold up my patio roof while I replaced one of the posts that was sinking into the concrete. The jack came with both of the nuts for the set bolts missing. I was able to purchase a couple from the local Lowe's store for under a buck so it was not a big deal. I had a hard time keeping the jack itself from turning when I tried to lift the roof so I had to use a pipe wrench to hold the jack while I screwed up the lifting piece. Get these heavy duty jacks.

... instead of the lighter weight ones. I've used both. These are worth the extra $. Worked well. Only problem was one end of outer sleeve was ovaled so Inner sleeve wouldn't slide. So I hit it with a hammer a few times to round out the end. Then WD-40''ed the inside. Problem solved. Quick to install.

The jacks seemed to be a good quality and easy to use.

Great tool

I've used similiar product in the pass. This one is so much better. Like the bolt and nuts better than the pins on older products. No problems with using this jack, like some others had with the bolt in the top for raising your floors. Believe I will have years of use. Great product.

salvageable

DO NOT USE THESE UNTIL YOU [TACK] WELD THE FLAT NUT INTO THE LARGE TUBE BASE !!! UNTIL THIS IS DONE, THEY ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND UNSTABLE. WITH THIS FIX THEY WORK FAIRLY WELL. Fasten the brace plates securely to the opposing surfaces. You will really need a 3/4" open end wrench to adust.
