What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise the compact lowboy design and side-mounted connections, highlighting ease of installation in tight spaces like crawl spaces and under-counter areas. Most report fast heating and reliable hot water supply sufficient for daily use without running out. However, some experience drain valve leaks and persistent water odor issues. A few note problematic valve placement complicating installation and report unit failures within months. Despite these concerns, the vast majority remain satisfied with core functionality and space-saving design.

easy install
Would RecommendI just installed today, so don't have enough time to provide performance review. I have installed other AO Smith heaters and they perform very well, I believe this will be the same.

Would RecommendI only installed this today so it is rather early on to review. I will say it heated water quickly and is very quiet.

Brand new and leaks at the drain valve
Would Not RecommendBought special order from lowes. Drain valve is leaking from day one. Tightened quarter turn...... still leaking. Either improperly installed or defective. It's cheap all plastic drain valve.

Great features!
Would RecommendThe lowboy style allowed me to install this 28 gallon two 4500 watt element water heater below a counter top in a dual door kitchen cabinet.

PERFECT SIZE
Would RecommendThis was replacing a tall 30G tank,in the kitchen corner. This produces just as much hot water. And I can put a portable counter top above it. It is the perfect size and so quiet.

Really good Water Heater for those tight places
Would RecommendI had this water heater special order and shipped to Lowes. The key feature was the connections being on the side of the water heater. One thing not listed in the description, inside the shipping box contained an rolled up insulation blank that wrapped around the tank. There was pre-cut holes in the blanket, but the connections being on the side, I had to make cuts to expose those connections. The drain valve on the side and the electric connection on the top was already pre-cut.

Fits my small condo utility closet
Would RecommendI just had the water heater installed yesterday, but I wanted to write a review. I own a condo built in 1971, so finding the right heater to fit the small utility closet was hard. This model E6-30J45DVB with the side valves was the answer. I trust this AO Smith product as they are a reputable company and I will expect my heater to last 10 years or more!
