What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise the compact lowboy design and side-mounted connections, highlighting ease of installation in tight spaces like crawl spaces and under-counter areas. Most report fast heating and reliable hot water supply sufficient for daily use without running out. However, some experience drain valve leaks and persistent water odor issues. A few note problematic valve placement complicating installation and report unit failures within months. Despite these concerns, the vast majority remain satisfied with core functionality and space-saving design.

Would Not RecommendPurchased this lowboy due to tight space. Now the heater keeps shutting off, leaving me with no hot water until I hit the reset button. Purchased at Lowe’s but now I read: Do not Return to the store where purchased. How inconvenient.
Works like it should.
Would RecommendBought it as I did not need a large one and could use extra storage space

Too small even for one person
Would Not RecommendI couldn't get one shower out of this heater and I have a low flow shower head. It is only 120volt so it takes a long time to heat up after I shower. It is probably good for a laundry and hand washing. Not good for a whole house
This heater is rated for 240-volts. Operating this unit on 120-volts will result in poor operation and decreased recovery. With a fully heated tank... Read More
28 Gallon Water Heater
Would RecommendIt cost me me more to have it installed than the cost of the unit. Unit is doing great this far. It's been in for a couple of weeks.

Just What I Needed
Would RecommendI bought this Low Boy electric water heater because I needed more hot water for my new walk-in tub. I also needed it to be short in height because I put it in a crawl space right below the new tub. I put it "in-line" with the hot water lead from my existing gas 45 gallon water heater. Now I have instant hot water in my bathroom (do not waste water waiting for the hot water to travel through pipes) and I have plenty of hot water for the walk-in tub. It would have been much more expensive to u...

Informed Consumer - Wish i Knew
Would RecommendJust purchased Proline b/c I was in a pinch (from a wholesale plumbing supply chain). This is the exact same water heater offered by Lowes (called signature series). Lowes price $349. ***** Plumbing supply chain $690 with tax. Plumbing supply chain will not tell you the difference b/c "we don't sell the signature series" and the 18yr old at Lowes didn't know. Spoke with AO Smith customer service (very helpful). The two differences. 1) Proline has a brass drain line, signature series has a...
Practically instant hot water
Would RecommendOur kitchen is at the opposite end of the house from where the main water heater is located, which resulted in a long wait for hot water and also a lot of wasted water. We installed this 28 gal. unit very near to the sink and the dishwasher. Now it takes about 3 seconds for hot water at the tap. Problem solved.

Water tank
Would Recommend1 st one leaked as soon as installation was complete. We received a big hassel when we returned it to the store within the hour. The 2nd purchase was fine.

Water heater
We installed this right before Christmas. It’s working fine so far. My main complaint is the bottom connector is plastic instead of brass. This is the same brand as our previous water heater that was 30 years old. We hope this one lasts just as long. We were very limited in our choices because of the height of our crawl space. Really wish their were more options on short water heaters.

Water heater
Would RecommendSeems to be a quality water heater. Short and squatty to fit in tight space. Side connections help a lot.

As promised
This was an easy to install water heater in the closet of my condo. If it holds up well, I will be very pleased. I plan to replace the anode rod in 5 years in order to prolongs its usable lifespan.

Thermostat Wiring Shorted in less than 72 hours!
Would Not RecommendI bought and had this water heater installed on Jan 2 2019, and it quit working on the 5th, due to what was determined to be faulty wiring in the thermostat. I called the warranty number and was offered a replacement heater and $100 dollars to have it re-installed. Considering that this is roughly 1/10th of what I have been charged in labor so far, (still awaiting an invoice from electrician to ensure it wasn't faulty wiring) I am very unsatisfied. I work in customer service and honestly couldn'...
