In the past, I've used my bench grinder to sharpen my lawn mower blades but never had a good way to sharpen my kitchen knifes and other small cutting tools. Well the Work Sharp MK2 has solved that problem for me. Within a few minutes of receiving the unit I was sharpening every cutting item I had around. The tool comes with very easy to follow instructions and a variety of abrasive belt to sharpen and hone kitchen knives, scissors, pruning shears and more. Switching belts is easy and straightfor...
Surprisingly Effective, but...
I was very skeptical about this, considering it a Rube Goldberg kind of thing. There are several settings that have to be changed depending on what you're sharpening, and it takes a while with the instruction booklet to figure all this out. When you get to using it, it does quite a good job. I used it on a pocket knife, a few kitchen knives, and a hatchet. To switch from one thing to another, you have to make 2 or 3 adjustments on the sharpener, AND change the sandpaper strip (I know, the co...
The whole family wanted to use it!
Would RecommendI was so excited to put this Worksharp Knife and Tool Sharpener to the test. The packaging was cool looking, and the tool even more so. The kit included the sharpener, and 6 belts of various grits (course, medium, and fine). Once the bevel was set to the proper angle (only two choices 20 and 25), it was easy to begin the process of sharpening knives. The first knife I sharpened was an old WWII knife, I used for cutting sod. Needless to say the blade was pretty dull. It took 10 passes ...
Great hand held sharpener!
Would RecommendGreat tool - I am looking forward to testing this item out. It has extra belts, instructions, guide book, etc. I am not used the hand held feature but it does make sense to hold on it while sharpening a blade.
Works very well with a little practice.
Would RecommendDoes exactly as advertised, makes a blade SHARP! Takes a bit of finesse, read the instructions and practice a bit. It made my old Buck skinning knife razor sharp with a great angle, better than by hand. Also superb for rehabilitating old, abused knives and scissors.

Extremely Versatile Sharpener
Would RecommendI've been very impressed with this sharpener. It's very easy to use and extremely versatile. I've only used it to sharpen straight edge kitchen knives and scissors so far, but it can also handle serrated knives, outdoor knives, single bevel edges, combo-edges, and a wide range of cutting tools including tin snips, axe heads, and mower blades. The sharpener comes with a range of sharpening belts to handle grinding, sharpening, and honing. There are a number of adjustments you make to prepare the ...
Great features
Would RecommendWork Sharp Knife & Tool Sharpener MK.2. The Work Sharp sharpener uses an abrasive belt as the sharpening surface. The unit comes with three different grit belts. The coarse belt is P80 grit used for grinding or to surface tools and knives in poor condition. The medium belt is P220 grit and is used to sharpen the cutting edge of a knife or tool in good condition. The fine belt is P6000 grit and is used to hone the cutting edge and produces a razor sharp edge. I recommend watching the demo video b...
Not Great
Would RecommendThe design of this tool is not great. The belt assembled when received was off track. Sharpener will spin if not laid on something. Overall would not recommend.
Great Tool to Add to My Workshop
Would RecommendSo many times, the marketing hype for a product far exceeds your actual experiences. That is not the case with the Work Sharp MK2 Tool Sharpener. This might be considered a luxury type item vs a simple sharpening stone, but after using it a few times, it will be much more useful for keeping multiple things in top shape. The packaging was very good and protected the tool in shipping. It looks way more complicated (at first) to my sharpening stone, but the instructions are likely the best for any...
Light weight and portable
Using a 1/2" wide belt, this tool will sharpen kitchen knives and house hold scissors rapidly and very well. Using the 240 grit belt alone it took the kitchen knives from quite nicked to very sharp. The 240 and then 6000 grit belt did the same for the scissors. I will definitely be taking this to Thanksgiving to sharpen the families knives. I tried it on garden tools, but it worked to slow compared to my angle grinder. But it will work if this is all you have.
Works great.
Would RecommendThe knife sharpener works great. It takes 2 or 3 passes on each side of the blade and its sharp. It comes with every belt you need, from coarse to extra fine.
easiest sharpener I have found
Would RecommendI have tried may different sharpeners and have never been able to get a really sharp edge. The Work Sharp has really made a difference in the sharpness I have been able to attain on my blades. So simple to use. Does leave dust from the belts and the blades so work in an easy to wipe down space. I sharpen my kitchen knives and pocket knives. The machine has easy to change preset angles for each type. I have used many different sharpeners from stones to other electrics and I by far get the fastest...
Good gift for Garden Tool Sharpening
Would RecommendI've have always used a sharpening stone, or whetstone, to sharpen the edges of my tools, such as knives, scissors, chisels by honing. This was always a slow process. The Work Sharp Knife & Tool Sharpener MK.2 makes sharpening much faster and safer. Being electric, the sharpening process is much quicker and repeatable. The different abrasive belts and adjustability of the MK.2 helps make each sharpening job go quicker. There is a 2 speed motor, low speed for sharpening a knife, high speed for s...
Quick, Easy and Versatile Sharpener
Would RecommendWithin 20 minutes of taking the MK.2 sharpener out of the box, I had sharpened 3 hatchets, a mower blade, a long blade knife, a machete, a trowel and a limb pruner sharpened to more than meet my needs and prior results with my files and grinding wheels. I was not looking for perfection, just a quick and easy way to simply sharpen and maintain the many cutting blade varieties one finds around the house. It will definitely save many future trips to get your mower and many other blades accurately...
Does a ‘professional job’ or better
Would RecommendGood instructions that are easy to follow. If you follow the instructions, you can achieve a VERY sharp knife edge - and you can do it fairly quickly and without “over-sharpening” the knife. I love that they include the honing belt - it polishes the knife edge to a mirror like shine that I hope will help in keeping the blade sharper longer. This is a great tool! I’ve sharpened the kitchen knives, my pocket knives, tools, scissors, even the lawn mower blade. Apparently you can use it on shovels,...
An excellent, versatile sharpener
Would RecommendThis is a very versatile tool that I am going to be using a lot. It's versatile because there are so many different types of tools and knives that can be sharpened. I have sharpened my good kitchen knives, scissors, several axes and hatchets, a couple of pruning shears, my lawn mower blade, and it did an excellent job on all of them. I've attached a before and after photo of a hatchet I sharpened and you can see it went from dull to mirror finish with just a few minutes of work. When it come...
Easy to use, does a very good job!
Would RecommendI was a little skeptical of this item when I ordered it. I had tried other sharpeners that didn't quite pan out to be what they were advertised as. The Knife and Tool Sharpener MK.2 seems to be the exception. I started by reading the manual and preparing the unit for it's first job. I choose an old kitchen knife that my grandfather had owned at one time. Through years of use in my garage this was extremely dull. I believe I only made a half dozen passes on each side and the knife was razor sh...
Sharpen Anything, and Be Careful...
Would RecommendI think this Work Sharp Knife and Tool Sharpener should come with an additional warning because after using it I darn near cut myself. "Holy Razor Blades Batman", I thought I would take a dull pocket knife to practice with and after sharpening it, I now want to carry it as my daily carry again.. What a Great tool, and Speaking of tools I sharpened a chisel and I swear I can use it to cut wood with, it's that sharp. Be Careful because the edge you can put on your knives are scary sharp.. More...
Easy to use
Would RecommendThe instructions are extensive and provide a great tutorial on how to sharpen knives the proper way. They also extensively cover how to sharpen lots of other things it can sharpen. I picked it only for kitchen knives and scissors and it's simple and easy to do with this tool. I like the different paper belt grits provided for varying levels of sharpening, the ease of changing them, and their durability. Also, it's small enough to store in a drawer and doesn't take up counter space. Easily ...
