In the past, I've used my bench grinder to sharpen my lawn mower blades but never had a good way to sharpen my kitchen knifes and other small cutting tools. Surprisingly Effective, but...

I was very skeptical about this, considering it a Rube Goldberg kind of thing. There are several settings that have to be changed depending on what you're sharpening, and it takes a while with the instruction booklet to figure all this out. When you get to using it, it does quite a good job. I used it on a pocket knife, a few kitchen knives, and a hatchet. The whole family wanted to use it!

I was so excited to put this Worksharp Knife and Tool Sharpener to the test. The packaging was cool looking, and the tool even more so. The kit included the sharpener, and 6 belts of various grits (course, medium, and fine). Once the bevel was set to the proper angle (only two choices 20 and 25), it was easy to begin the process of sharpening knives. Great hand held sharpener!

Great tool - I am looking forward to testing this item out. It has extra belts, instructions, guide book, etc. I am not used the hand held feature but it does make sense to hold on it while sharpening a blade.

Works very well with a little practice.

Does exactly as advertised, makes a blade SHARP! Takes a bit of finesse, read the instructions and practice a bit. It made my old Buck skinning knife razor sharp with a great angle, better than by hand. Also superb for rehabilitating old, abused knives and scissors.

The design of this tool is not great. The belt assembled when received was off track. Sharpener will spin if not laid on something. Overall would not recommend.

Great Tool to Add to My Workshop

So many times, the marketing hype for a product far exceeds your actual experiences. That is not the case with the Work Sharp MK2 Tool Sharpener. This might be considered a luxury type item vs a simple sharpening stone, but after using it a few times, it will be much more useful for keeping multiple things in top shape. Light weight and portable

Using a 1/2" wide belt, this tool will sharpen kitchen knives and house hold scissors rapidly and very well. Using the 240 grit belt alone it took the kitchen knives from quite nicked to very sharp. The 240 and then 6000 grit belt did the same for the scissors. I will definitely be taking this to Thanksgiving to sharpen the families knives. I tried it on garden tools, but it worked to slow compared to my angle grinder. But it will work if this is all you have.

The knife sharpener works great. It takes 2 or 3 passes on each side of the blade and its sharp. It comes with every belt you need, from coarse to extra fine.

easiest sharpener I have found

I have tried may different sharpeners and have never been able to get a really sharp edge. The Work Sharp has really made a difference in the sharpness I have been able to attain on my blades. Within 20 minutes of taking the MK.2 sharpener out of the box, I had sharpened 3 hatchets, a mower blade, a long blade knife, a machete, a trowel and a limb pruner sharpened to more than meet my needs and prior results with my files and grinding wheels. Does a ‘professional job’ or better

Good instructions that are easy to follow. If you follow the instructions, you can achieve a VERY sharp knife edge - and you can do it fairly quickly and without “over-sharpening” the knife. An excellent, versatile sharpener

This is a very versatile tool that I am going to be using a lot. It's versatile because there are so many different types of tools and knives that can be sharpened. I have sharpened my good kitchen knives, scissors, several axes and hatchets, a couple of pruning shears, my lawn mower blade, and it did an excellent job on all of them. I was a little skeptical of this item when I ordered it. I had tried other sharpeners that didn't quite pan out to be what they were advertised as. I think this Work Sharp Knife and Tool Sharpener should come with an additional warning because after using it I darn near cut myself. "Holy Razor Blades Batman", I thought I would take a dull pocket knife to practice with and after sharpening it, I now want to carry it as my daily carry again.. The instructions are extensive and provide a great tutorial on how to sharpen knives the proper way. They also extensively cover how to sharpen lots of other things it can sharpen. I picked it only for kitchen knives and scissors and it's simple and easy to do with this tool.
