It works but is tall
Would RecommendWe got this so when we’re away the lights will still go on at night. It works fine but I think the stem part where the light bulb screws into is a bit tall which makes the lightbulb hit the top of the lantern. It could just be our style of lantern. It still works, but it does bother me to have the lightbulb so high up on the lantern that it touches the top.

Watch out for the protruding photo cell
Would Not RecommendI could not use this on an outdoor receptacle because the side protruding photo cell prevented screwing the fixture into the socket. Also, though it says it can be used indoors or outdoors, in small print, it says not to let it get wet.

Good product, but only for specific applications
Would RecommendI bought this to use on an existing outdoor floodlight. Unfortunately, this wasn't a good choice for that application, as the photocell on this device is completely covered by the floodlight socket that it screws into. Therefore, it could not detect when it was daylight or dark. Fortunately, I had another place I could use this, which prevented me from needing to exchange it for a similar device of a different style. It works well in the alternative application.

Would RecommendFor years I had a timer for my outdoor lights and now found something so much better. This little attachment is great, nothing to worry about. The light comes on at sunset and off in the morning sunrise. Lowes associate was so very helpful. Thank you

Half do not work
Would Not RecommendI came in and bought three units. Two worked. I returned one and bought another. It did not work. I repeated this two ore times and finally got the third one I needed to work. I ended up buying six units and three worked. Perhaps it was a bad lot.

One year ago I had to replace the one on the other side of the garage door that had been installed about 15+ years and is still working with no problems. Make sure that you use the adapter and verify that the large end of the beveled end is blocking the light bulb, this will eliminate any sort of flashing on/off. In/out fixture?

However, when the item arrives it states on the package that it is an indoor/outdoor fixture but also says it cannot be used in a wet environment. Outside is a wet environment! False, or at the very least insufficient, advertising in the description, causing problems for those who buy it and then have to return it.

Dusk to dawn solution
Would RecommendI wanted to have a front light that went on at dusk to dawn, but didn’t want to have to replace all the matching outdoor lights just to have this function. This photocell socket works beautifully and all for less than $10.00.
