What Customers Are Saying

However, a significant number reported issues such as bulbs not working, lack of brightness, flickering, and compatibility problems. The reliability and compatibility of the product appear to be inconsistent.

Would Not RecommendMust switch on and off many times before they will light up. Called customer support and received no help.. just told to return to Lowes. Was told they do no trouble shooting. I guess there will be no more Utilitech bulbs in my house. I have other makes working without any issue.
Works Fine with Newer Electronic Ballasts.
Would RecommendEveryone, Please pay attention, all the direct replacement LED bulbs in the T8 (1" Diameter - 32-Watt Equal) and the T12 (1.5" Diameter - 40-Watt Equal) require the Newer Electronic Ballasts typically made after the mid 70's or so they stopped using the old magnetic ballasts which would buss and flicker. So people that post bad reviews for the most part stating they don't work are simply not reading up on the bulbs.
Not perform as expected
Would Not RecommendPurchased to replace light in basement. Installed and did not light or very dim. Not performed as expected. Purchased GE brand at same time, they performed great. Returned and purchased 4 more GE brand.

Doesn't work with Ballast Bypass
I tried "plug and play" in a T12 fixture (even though I did not expect them to work. They didnt. I then tried bypassing the ballast and converting the sockets to non-shunted. They still didn't work. I bought these hoping they would have more information inside, in the instructions, but no dice. Would it kill Utilitech to provide the customer with more info? Apparently, Utilitech thinks so. How about telling people on the package if these are compatible with ballast bypass or not, instead ...
T8 LED Tube Light
Would RecommendVery happy with this product. Could be a little less expensive, but wonderful brightness and color rendition. My windowless basement shop feels like working outdoors now!

Did not work
Would Not RecommendTried installing in a kitchen ceiling fixture that had older T12 bulbs. Did not work, and had to return items to store. These can ONLY work with ballast, and although are supposedly compatible with ballasts, apparently not all types. I will buy the ones that can work without ballast, and remove the ballast from the fixture.
Did not work
Would Not RecommendBought this, put it in a "Sea Gull Lighting 5934-15" fixture, and nothing happened except a slight buzz
Will not work with older fluorescent lights
Would Not RecommendIs this a replacement but it will not work with the electronic ballast. After getting them home it looks like they will work with magnetic ballasts. Waste of my time and trip.
