Great mower

Would Recommend

Purchased this a few months ago, and it is a great little mower. No fancy stuff just mows the yard. Starts the first time, uses little gas, and mows great.

4 years of use and no issues

Would Recommend

I have had this mower for 4 years and have virtually no complaints. Approximately 160 hours on it. Not one repair has been made to it other than replacing a worn drive belt. I have a 1.3 acre lot that I keep up with this mower and has never had any problems. Never fails to start. Great mower considering it's a low end model. If I wanted to be picky, I could complain about the fact that the deck has no anti-scalp wheels. So, when in certain uneven areas of my yard, it can catch the ground and sc...

Great Mower for the Money

Would Recommend

I bought this mower to replace my old one I'd used for 11 years. It was hard to start at first but maybe it was from sitting at the store. I haven't had that problem again as it always starts right up. This mower does everything I need it to do. I have no complaints and would definitely recommend it to someone needing a mower without shelling out a lot of money.

Love it!

Would Recommend

have had my Pony for 2 seasons now and love it , next time I would probably get one with the anti scalp wheels on deck but this tractor keeps my yard looking great just 2 spots that I have to be careful of.

Seat

Would Recommend

The only down side for me is the small seat. If the terrain is not perfectly level the operator tends to slide nearly off the mower.

Great Decision

Would Recommend

I find the mower to be very easy to operate. The deck is quite balanced. Part of my lawn is not level and it is a little difficult to stay in the seat. Additionally the deck is a bit awkward to take off with the type of clips used. I replaced mine when I changed the blades to mulching kit.

great purchase

Would Recommend

I like the troy-bilt pony riding mower, runs great, mows great, only problem I have found is when trying to back up you have to turn mower blades off with right hand and try to shift with the left hand. and the pto arm sits engaged kind of low, and when disengaged kind of far back. Other then that it is a great mower.

Pony product purchase

Would Recommend

Having owned a hydrostatic mower, I am having some problems getting used to the shift on the left side of the Pony. The mowing is good though.

Great Purchase

Would Recommend

This riding mower is great at everything. One tank of gas allows me to mow my yard and my neighbors yard (just over 2 acres) and still have a bit of gas left. It starts easy, the ride is comfortable, and the controls are easy to reach.

Good tractor with one exception

Would Recommend

My issue is with the oil drain plug setup. The drain plug sits practically on top of the engine frame with no clearance to get a funnel under it for draining. A 1 inch hole is drilled about 2 inches in front of the drain hole that doesn't help either. You end up with oil spilling all over the frame. Put the drain plug in a better spot, create a drain hole under the plug or design a specialized funnel.

Troy-Bilt 42" Pony

Would Recommend

This is my first riding mower purchase.I have used many others that were owned by family or friends and the Troy-Bilt Pony feels just as good as the much more expensive brands without all the levers and knobs to operate. The ease of start and operate is just awesome and the cutting power in great for our front and back lawns. It also seems maintainence will be very simple as well.

Cuts unevenly around corners

Would Recommend

Bought it for the price. Does not cut evenly around corners. The lawn looks scalped in those areas. Have to go 'round and round' to get the areas missed when turning. I wish it had a cutting level between 3rd and 4th level. #3 level is too short and #4 is too high for my liking. Had to get a riding mower due to heart condition. Not a bad mower overall though.

First riding lawm mower

Would Recommend

Just bought this mower last weekend. I'm on 2 acres of land. This mower cut through everything, even the metal fishing rod holder I didn't see next to the pond. Of course, now I have to sharpen the blades but dang it shredded that thing up into 4 pieces. I have seen some complaints about this mower being sluggish going up hill, but I haven't experienced that. My yard has some 30 degree slopes and it went up no problem. My guess is that once the engine is broke in, that I'll probably lose some po...

Lovin my Pony Lawn Tractor

Would Recommend

I have had my Pony for 2 months but with all the rain there has been plenty of grass to mow. I previously mowed the lot with my 12 year old push mower but this got to hard on me as I have a neuro-muscular disease that weakens my muscles. The Pony makes short work of mowing that use to take me an hour or more and wear me out. Now Im also mowing my next door neighbors lawn since she has no mower and her finances are limited to hire someone and I can cut it for her for free with little effort on my...

Solid Value

Would Recommend

I am a relatively new owner and this is my first riding mower, so take my comments accordingly. I have examined the Pony LT and used it several times and everything appears to be as advertised. Nothing appears as if the manufacturer cut corners. It just seems to be a solid value at the price that I paid.

Awesome mower!

Would Recommend

I purchased this lawn mower late last fall. It has proven to be a great purchase! I also purchased a rear bagger for grass and leaves in the fall. The mower works great and the bagger for leaves is even better. I have a lot of trees, and get a lot of leaves on my lawn. The mower picks up the leaves almost like a vacuum! What a great time saver! I used it already this spring to clean up the yard. An overall unbeatable purchase!

Used 4 times and not very happy

Would Not Recommend

So far I am very unpleased with this mower. I have used it 4 times and already it is giving me problems. Yesterday it developed a vibration while the blades are engaged and I am not sure why since I did not hit anything. The blade safety also began giving me problems yesterday. When I disengage the blades they keep turning. I hate that you have to shut the blades off every time you back up and sometimes the mower will not move in first gear and I must use second to get it going. I have been cutt...
