Splits very hard wood, like aged oak and green sycamore. It takes time and effort (a good workout) but the logs eventually split. The piston gasket on mine failed after a few months and the company was unable to supply the part. They wanted me to send the whole thing back for a replacement but that was too much trouble (it weighs a ton). I was able to clean and reset the gasket and it is still working.

Great wood splitter with excellent customer servic
I live in MD where it gets cold a few months out of the year. I enjoy splitting wood because not only is it satifying but, it's also a great workout. The customer service rep was extremely helpful and replaced a part (not defective) within a few days at no cost to me.

Log Splitter-Not sure
I tried out 3 logs sized per the specs and it started out ok but as the pressure became greater one of the pistons was easy to push and the other would barely budge.

Works better than expected
I was a little apprehensive about buying even after reading other positive reviews about the Sun Joe Log Splitter. But after splitting the first log with relative ease I moved on to larger logs and had the same outcome. The line I kept using was 'if it fits, it will split!!'

Husband loves it!
I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He is 66 and loves to split wood as a pastime in the winter. I warned him about cutting length max 18" and rounded ends that cause so he would be forewarned as he hates reading instructions. Works great! He is very happy with the way it works and is safer then using the axe as the seasoned oak is hard to split. He is very pleased with it. I have split some would with it as well and I'm 69 wood split easily.

I LOVE my SunJoe logsplitter. I am 69 yrs old, female. I had a bunch of tree logs that were too big for my fireplace. So much easier
I was skeptical, but it seems to work well. I got a load of split wood that was not split small enough for my fireplace. Tried using and axe. Really didn't want one of us getting hurt. Works well so far. But if the grain is not straight or if there are big knots, it might not do the trick.

Good product for the money.
It has performed as advertised. Negative is that it won't handle bigger than a 18" log. That's basically the minimum width of a wood rack. So, there's not much overlap for stacking your wood.
