Good TAPE, but the lock is trash

Im an electrician, so i constantly pull repetitive measurements. The tape itself is good, great ergonomics, ect. The lock however is absolute garbage. Broke very quickly, and i should have known since the first one i picked up when purchasing already had the lock broken. This seems to be a common issue with this newer tape based off the reviews and my older fatmax never had this issue. May be switching to another brand.

broke after first use

I really wanted to like this tape measure, but the tape measure stopper broke during the first few minutes of use. when it was working, it didn't hold the tape measure in place very well. it could have been broken from the store. it feels really good in your hand though. I'll stick to my DeWalt tape measure than can survive a 60 foot drop.

Ease of reading

The ability to stand out farther than other tape measures is all big asset in taking measurementswhen working alone. Love this FatMax tape measure. A must for carpenters and other construction type people.o

Great tape measure!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got Fatmax Shield tape in early June and have enjoyed it very much. I especially like the easy to read numbers showing individual feet with inch markings 1-11 between each foot. Also the overall feet. The reinforcement on the first 6 inches should extend the life a lot.

Best tape on the market

I bought a two-pack of the new FATMAX 25' tapes. I've got at least a dozen of the 'old' 25' Stanley tapes - one with each tool belt, at least one in each tool bag and a few in drawers for 'spares.' They've been my go-to tape for 20 years or more. These new FATMAX, while pretty good for their 'stand-out' ability, have flaws. Very sturdy just be careful

The markings on it are also pretty large so anyone without the greatest eyesight should be able to see this without problems. Its also durable enough to handle falls without breaking it. Good tape but Bulky

a perfect handfull

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] after using this for a while I am generaly pleased with the performance of this tape but have had a problem with the locking feature releasing on it's own.i don't know if it's just my tape or it's a design problem.the extra thick tape at the beginning is an outstanding feature.great tape,well worth it for the working man.thank you for a great product

Great Tape, Lock breaks immediately

Love the feel, look and readability of this tape. Used it for about a week, then the lock wouldn’t work. Thought it might be defective so I bought another one, the lock one the new one broke within about two minutes of taking it out of the package, a thin yellow piece of plastic fell out.... would love Stanley to fix the lock design, maybe even an auto lock. My Komeleon tape is 15 years old and the lock is still solid. Wouldn’t recommend this tape till it redesigned.

A hefty measuring tape

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Fatmax 25' tape measure is a heavy duty tool great for measuring any distance. The blade stands up to repeated usage and does not waver or wander when measuring at any distance or length.

Lock not working

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the shape of how well fits in palm of hand, extend length, clip durability. However, the lock doesn't go all the way down or work. Must be a defect as I don't believe I've ever had any problem with a Stanley product. Recommend fixing quality or design issue.

Excellent Measuring Tool

I could grip it easily and it felt very comfortable with either hand (and I only dropped it once!). Feels like a solid, long lasting tool. Great tape measure

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Started using this tape today and really liked it. Decided to use the Stanley against a Craftsman 25 footer. By comparison the Stanley beat the Craftsman hands down. Was working on installing a large patio and the standout ability on the fat max was outstanding. Also like the protective coating on the tape blade. On a side of caution the return spring is really strong and will pinch your fingers if you have them in the wrong place
