Great product except...

Loved the safe until the gas strut went bad and wouldn’t open the lid.

Easy to setup and use

As a first time gun owner I wanted something safe, easy to setup, and easy to access. It hits all these highlights!

Gas Strut

Gas Strut goes bad and you have to pay for replacements.

Heavy duty, much heavier than I had expected. Easy to setup and use. Nice to buy a good product that works.

Hefty, well built safe—

The QAP1BE safe opens and closes like a bank vault, instilling confidence, so that's nice. Programming the digital buttons was trouble free and I have used it that way since Christmas (a gift from my wife). I am now in the process of trying to utilize the bio-metric access. The process has been daunting and I will re-visit this feature as I am not yet qualified to offer a real well rounded opinion.

Great at first....but

My wife and I loved the ease of use of this safe, but in less than two years... the strut has failed as many others have mentioned. I'm sure there are longer lasting products on the market now. If I have to replace the strut on this every year, I would rather spend the money on something else that will last.

Good but could’ve been better.

Very happy until I realized the door does not fully open up due to bad gas strut.

Great safe for home

Love this safe because it fits my pistol plus I know it is safe. And i feel safe with it. Especially since i have the fingerprint reader on it which is so easy to set up.

Good compact safe

This Safe is sturdy and the finger print recognition is easy to setup and works quickly when trying to access. it is quite small inside but serves the purpose for a easy access portable safe. Lid is a bit noisy when opening but it does open fast. Overall a good buy.

nice secure safe

Just got it and I love it already!!! Love the fact there are 3 ways to open it!! Fingerprint, combination AND ( in case the batteries die!!!) key!!! Heavyweight, room for my 9mm and clips and built well.

Great safe, but not built to last

This safe is fabulous. It's fast, quite, and heavy duty. The biometric scanner is flawless and quickly detects your fingerprint. Unfortunately, after a couple years of very mild use, my spring/strut is totally dead. I put my finger on the biometric scanner and it opens like... 1/2 an inch. Sometimes it will go as much as 2 inches, but very rarely. I'm super bummed about this because I keep the safe under my bed, and if it doesn't open all the way, I have no way of reaching my pistol without craw...

Door struts went bad

Be Careful: Door Struts Go Bad After Warranty Date I bought 1 of these safes for my pistols and they worked Great for 1 year. Then the door struts (what flips door open) went bad on in about 1 1/2 years. The 1 year Warranty expired, so I have So if you only want the safe to work for a year or so, then go for it.

Secure, easy to program

Programming for fingerprint recognition was relatively easy even for this Troglodite. Safe worked as advertised and seems to be quite secure. It is probably too heavy to be used much as a portable, but has space for a couple small pistols and ammo. Got if for securing pistol from kids, and looks like it should work well for that. Easy and quick to open with programmed finger prints, so should be good for home defense.

Wonderful gift that protects the little ones in the home from gaining access. Very affordable and quality construction.

Solid Safe

This safe is perfect for my handgun. The biometric fingerprint function works great with no issues. Simple to program with a backup key lock in case the battery ever dies. The safe was also surprisingly solid with a nice weight to it. The hydraulic arm that pops open the lid when you place you finger on the biometric reader was a little stiff when first opened but after numerous times testing out out the reader it seemed to loosen up allowing the lid to pop open faster.
