I discovered the 7 steps to my deck were basically floating due to rotted wooden stringers. I purchased these because they were the only choice for pre-made 7 step. They shipped across the country and arrived in 4 days. They are a BEAR to install by yourself because the treads have to be secured from the bottom. Instructions say to build your set of stairs laying the stringers upside down, but no way could I move such a beast. My stairs are 91.5 inches wide. I considered building a template for ...

Not sold as a Pair

I was told by a Lowes Agent that these were sold in pairs. So I ordered the "pair". It arrived as a single and now Lowes will only issue a refund at the closest Lowes and that is 100 miles away. I have to drive 2 hours to the store and 2 hours back for a refund. I think that is wrong and that Lowes should have issued a return shipping label. They refuse to issue the label.

Easy to install Dock stairs

We had an 8 1/2' Dock house above our boat dock, and we removed the old rotting wooden stairs & installed these new steel stringers using the new resin wood to make the steps. Needed two 6 step units to reach the 8 1/2' height. Strong & sturdy. Happy with the purchase & manufacturer. Will add photos later.

Whats not to like

Fast delivery of this well priced product. Plenty strong for residential use--i opted for 3 stringers to span 47" tread length. Lightweight, easy to handle. Instrction video suggests turning the stringers upside down and inserting screws through the holes in the stringers, and screwing them into the treads, and then flipping the assembled stairs for final affixing to deck via the strap hangers. In my case, I was using porcelain stairs (backed with thin metal) so I will not be using screws...

Do not buy this product

Poorly designed: there are no 'thru-holes' in the frame to reach the fasteners needed to attach the steps. So for most of the attachment holes, you cannot get a driving tool inside the space beneath the steps. Have spent hours experimenting with a variety of fasteners and modified tools but results were not satisfactory; finally settled on 1/4 inch carriage bolts and a washer/nut combo. But, bolt heads now appear on the top side of the step and I'm hoping that I can use a touch-up paint to try a...

Why someone at Lowes decided that shipping details between shipment and delivery weren't just important to some delivery situations, but essential, is beyond me. Just one of many problems, though, that have made Lowes my backup-only-if-I-have-to source for a year now.
