Ratings & Reviews for Purdy 4-ft to 8-ft POWER LOCK Telescoping Fiberglass Extension Pole
Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
The extension pole is well-constructed with an adjustable length and convenient quick-release mechanism for attaching rollers. Users report it helps them reach high areas without a ladder, reducing physical strain. The power lock feature allows secure length adjustment without slippage. However, some customers have experienced issues with the locking mechanism failing over time, causing the pole to collapse or not stay extended as needed. A few also note compatibility issues with certain roller frames. Overall, the product is viewed positively when functioning as intended, but the durability and reliability of the locking mechanism is a concern.

Rather dissapointed
Would Not RecommendBought my whole crew 2-4ft extensions... 3 out of 11 stopped locking and would slide back on them after only a month and a half of general use.

Great pole if it locked!
Would Not RecommendI got a 2'-4' power lock pole less than 1 year ago. In fact switched all my equipment over to purdy, nest, backpack, revolution frames, 18" everything, ect. Pole will lock when fully extended, but will collapse in any other area. Now got to use my old wooster sherlock. Was really happy with the powerlock loved that you could put it in any position, but has to lock!

Jammed lock with pole fully extended
Would RecommendI have had a 6'-12' extension pole for several. Years and had been very pleased with it. Recently, I had a task that required the full extension. Now the lo k is joked and I am unable to close the pole. Nno one else seems to have had rhis problem, so I'm hoping the folks at Purdy have an answer. I'd still recommend the product, but with a caution.

Lock stop working
Would Not RecommendI bought this a year ago and to start with it was awesome. The past few times I have used it the pole moves in and the lock doesn't catch like before. For what these cost they should last years before having to replace them. I don't use mine everyday like some do, so mine should have lasted a whole lot longer than a year.

Locking device flaw
Would RecommendI've been a fan of purdy poles for a long time. I had a pole for a few years and the pole started slipping when it wasnt fully extended. I figured this was from wear and tear and should be expected. I bought another one and withing a couple weeks, the same thing started happening again. Unless the pole is fully extended, the locking mechanism doesn't bite and the pole slips. Love the purdy rolling system just wish they would stay locked

Purdy powerlock won't stay extended
Would Not RecommendThis is my 3rd & final pole from purdy, won't be buying any more purdy products except brushes. All the poles suffer from the same problem, the pole doesn't stay locked even though only small pressure is applied. For something that costs a lot of money expect more from purdy. The poles & extendable frames need sorting. Sort it out purdy.

Impossible to remove screws for cleaning
Would Not RecommendAs a professional decorator I have been using this pole for 18 months. Today the pole won’t open or close because some dirt/dry paint etc has obviously clogged inside. With other makes of pole it is a 5 min job to release the handle anc give a thorough cleaning. For some reason Purdy have used their own screws similar to locking wheel nuts on your car. I can only assume they have gone to these lengths to ensure that should it need a thorough clean your only option would be to buy another pole...

Poor design
Would Not RecommendThese once were great poles. I used to get twice the life out the poles before they redesigned them about 4-5 years back. I’ve experienced all the problems everyone else is with the new poles. But I still buy them because as crappy as they are made, they are still more ideal for me than any other pole. I’ll be looking forward to a new design.

Little Used, Jammed Up Solid
Would Not RecommendBought for cleaning high windows, but hardly used as it's a little heavy. Has a few specks of paint on it, but ONLY a few. Extended it to full length, let it slide back and it jammed about 12" from fully collapsed. Switch still functions, but the pole won't extend or contract. Thought I might take out the hex screws that hold it together, but I don't know if it would help, and I can't get them out anyway.

Poor quality
This is the 2nd mid length purdy pole that's bust on.me in 12 months. The metal lug 9n the screw thread, that enables quick release, has snapped off and fallen inside the pole, so the 12 inch frame falls off

Pole
Would Not RecommendHas some good features as it interlocks with the rollers and the quick release is handy however after 2 months of average use the pole started to slip and not stay in place when rolling ceilings. As this is one of the uses for the pole it is not fit for purpose. This is extremely disappointing.

Liked old system better
I purchased one about a year ago, it began slipping after about 3 months. When I roll ceilings it begins to slide as I apply pressure. I purchased a second one yesterday simply because I need it for a job and thought I would give it a second chance. Let’s hope I have better luck with this one.

Too many problems
Would Not RecommendI used all purdy brushes rollers handles and extension but lately this extensions are failing too much the tread wears out too fast on the tip the clip that locks the purdy handle breaks too easy also the inner pole keeps slipping too much and won’t lock in place

Keeps going down
Would Not RecommendI’ve used purdy extension poles for years, I have a few of different lengths. The 2-4 ft one I use the most I had to replace after about 18mths as the threaded top part snapped off, just thought I was applying to much pressure. The replacement one which I’ve had for around 9 months just keeps collapsing when doing ceilings. Back to the old twist and lock for me.
