Filter works, but noisy

Easy to install and enjoy!

Clear instructions on how to remove old filter and install new one. Did follow the amount of times and duration to let water flow prior to allowing to produce ice, drink the filtered water. Also checked for any water leaks, which there were none after install. I did notice a minor amount of charcoal bits in ice after 24 hours, however, after letting additional water flow for several minutes, this disappeared. 6 month filter

After using the 3 month filters I was wary of a 6 month filter. Well, I got it, I noticed that it came in a generic whit bow. It seems that what they saved on packaging they spent of product. The filter is well made and I'm curious as to how it will perform. With the water around here, it's wise to have some sort of filtration system for the water. This filter was easy to load in and after purging the filter all seems to be good.

Fits my whirlpool refrigerator perfectly

Easy to install and light weight. A direct replacement for the OEM filter. Not sure what the retail price will be but if it is competative then this product would be a nice replacement.

Problem with manufacturer or me

When I received the "Request Refrigerator Water Filter" email from Lowes Loop, I looked at all the different filters that were being offered. I spent a great deal of time doing research and finally chose the Project Source #108521 model for our Maytag/Whirlpool frig. But to my surprise when attempting to install it, and twisted into the proper place in the freezer...... it turned out to be about 1/4 of an inch too short. Just like Original Equipment and less expensive

This Project Source M-2 Refrigerator Water Filter fits my Whirlpool Filter 4. I typically get original equipment, but this was much less expensive. The flow is good not slow like other generic brands I’ve tried in the past. I don’t see or taste any difference. Another benefit is that it claims to be an Eco-friendly filter that uses coconut shell carbon, the earth’s most powerful natural filter. Best of all it has all the NSF certifications just like original equipment. Very happy with it.

Adequate

It's a little smaller than the one it replaced, but fits and functions adequately. Being a little trimmer it didn't take quite as long to get the air out of the lines as others I've used.

Just like the name brand

Best replacement for the expensive type. Shape similar to what I use. No aftertaste and it is just similar as the name brand. Easy installation and I will be using this brand from now on. Lasts for 6 months.

Perfect fit, but a bit smaller and lower flow

The Project Source refrigerator water filter is a decent replacement from the OEM filter. It is a drop in perfect fit with no leaks. The only area that keeps this filter from gaining five stars is the flow rate which is 0.5 gal/min compared to the 0.7 gal/min of the OEM filter. The filter is also a bit smaller which may mean it has less filter material. So far this does not seem to be too noticeable but time will tell as the filter nears the end of its life. Other than that, there are no issues...

Great alternative - will buy again

There are only so many things you can tell about a filter without actually getting the water tested. Does it fit? Check Does the water pass through it and dispense? Check Is the water free of debris (after flushing a few gallons through)? Check Does it smell like anything you don't want to drink? Good there. As I can't speak to the quality of the water being output by the filter I like what it claims and we've been drinking it just fine. The capacity claims up to 300 gallons or 6 months. I'm no...

Good replacement filter for Whirlpool refrigerator

I replaced my Whirlpool factory installed filter that was over due with this filter. Installation was a breeze. Like some other users pointed out, this filter is slightly shorter than the original one, but fits the fridge perfectly.

Nice refrigerator water filter. This type fit my Whirlpool refrigerator. Simple, easy install. You just align the tabs and turn to the right. You will hear the water flow into the filter. This lasts 6 months. Works well.

good fit and value

This filter works just as it should. it appears to be a direct replacement for the Whirlpool 4 filter. It is a little bit smaller than the replacements I've been using. it's installed easily and does not leak. water tastes good.

Comparable to original equipment and works well

Overall this water filter unit seems to be a good option from buying the other brands product. This Project Source filter fits into my fridge filter housing but looks a bit smaller in size than the main brands original equipment. The water flow with this seemed to be a bit slower in speed compared to my original equipment. I am hoping that this will last us 6 months while it filters out the lead and other VOC’s. It’s an easy DIY water filter replacement to do on your own.

Blue Colored Water in Initial Flush???

During Initial flush the water came out deep blue at first, then cleared. Never had other filters do this, hesitant to drink from it. No mention of this in the instructions.

I received a broken Project Source water filter.

I placed the order a while ago and I am just now getting it and the worst part is that the twist off cap is broken and it fell into my as I opened it.
