Pennington Black Oil Sunflower Wild Bird Feed

The Pennington Black Oil Sunflower wild bird feed was received with the feeder. It is a good mix of seeds, including sunflower seeds, which attracts several different birds to the feeder. The seed is mixed well, and is a good size to fit through the ports of most feeders. Our birds seemed slow to be attracted to it, but once they did, we got finches, chickadees, cardinals, sparrows and blue jays (of course). Wish it came with a plastic pour spout that you open at top of bag. Pouring directly from the bag is a bit awkward.

Ok Bird Seed with some fillers

I used this bird seed mix in conjunction with a Pennington bird feeder. Overall, for the birds in my area they did not like 2 of the main ingredients - the Milo and Millet. Watching them for a few minutes, I noticed that most of the birds were pushing those ingredients off to the side or on the ground. I did a bit more research and learned that a lot of backyard bird species do not particularly like these two ingredients. Some people think of these two ingredients as "fillers". Overall, for me ...
