Conflicting Directions

I have used other polyurethane brands before, but wanted to use all Minwax products on this project hoping for a nicer finish. I applied my first coat of Fast-Drying Polyurethane 2.5 hours ago. I came to this website to re-read the directions to make sure I do it exactly right. The can says to allow 3-4 hours to dry between coats. The website says 4 hours. Easy to get good results

I’m a fan of this product. I put on a coat, lightly sanded with 220 grit then put on a second coat and it is very good, nearly perfect. As others have stated, the odor is fairly obnoxious, especially the first coat on bare wood. My project is out in my shop so that’s not an issue. It takes about a week to disappear. The spray can product is worse, might take two weeks. I can see coating an entire floor in a bedroom you may need a gas mask. The first night I could smell it from outside my shop...

Product is great, but directions on the spray can are so small I cant read them with magnifying goggles.

Smell is terrible and lasts a LONG time

I am fairly pleased with the look of the product but the smell it produces and the length of time it smells is just a bit much. Used this on a bunch of shelves for a project due to owners request and they took well over 2+ weeks to finally have low odor enough to actually go in the home. I try not to be melodramatic or overstate things but, let me just say, the smell is awful and seeps into other things located in the same area. It is horrible

The spray cans are horrible

You all need to do something with the spray nozzles. I bought this product and both cans quit spraying in a matter of minutes. I then bought the Polycrylic. It continued to spray but again the nozzle caused It to spit and splatter and after every 3 or 4 swipes it spit drips. It ruined it and I had to send it all down again. It was more money to begin with and only caused more work and made the project hours longer than it should have been.

I used for some unfinished kitchen cabinets . I used in the past for the same purpose and I love it . Is shiny , very easy to clean and protects against moisture . I highly recommend

Absolutely awful!

I have used Minwax to years and this is the first time it was awful. Use this to refinish my kitchen floors the smell was overwhelming, made the contractor, myself and the dog sick for 2 days. Also the smell seeped into my refrigerator and freezer, and now my food tastes like it. Had to throw quite a bit out. Also took 3 days to dry and it still got gouges in it. Bad Product Beads n

I was just reminded by another review that this product sucks, it beats up and is useless as a result. It did not beat up on unfinished particleboard. But on everything else it did.everything else it

Works fine but quality is terribly inconsistent

We bought 2 gallons and 3 quarts of Semi Gloss, and each can was a different smell, color, and viscosity. The quarts spread very quickly and were a lighter yellow, but the gallons spread very thickly and were a darker shade of color, causing my floor to look uneven in color across the spots where we used the different cans. I absolutely will not buy Minwax products again.

Not dry as can directions say- 4-6 hrs is bogus.

This is my third try after stripping 2 times. Humidity was under 49% with temp at 80 degrees. Left job at 11 am. Came back at 6 pm. Product is lacking enough dryers to preform as directed. Imt done with All Minwax products!

Has never let me down

Minwax is the only brand of oil based polyurethane I've purchased and used since I got into woodworking just over 6 years ago after wanting to since my first pinewood derby car at the age of 11. I have applied MinWax products for 61 years professionally, I was once one of the world's largest contractors, building, heavy construction, built cabinets, floors, furniture, refinished, covering every trade, I never had any problems, none! Education , preparation is a must, I always say if in doubt! Try it on mock up sample, master the art and you will have a museum piece, I'm using this polyurethane on 17 doors in my home as I write this letter and all look spectacular. J. R.

I don't know what the bad reviews are for when it's obviously operator failure, glass finish and depth galore... Haven't even buffed it, I did it 12 hours ago and looks like this!
