Would Not RecommendOne spray coat of the clear satin completely changed the color of my closet door. Trying to flip closet doors from a condo. Renter put holes in them. Top right is original face of the doors, bottom right is original backside of the doors. VERY close match. Just seemed to be lacking a finish coat. Sprayed clear satin on the back side of the door to the left. You can’t tell me that’s clear.

Do not sand between coats!
Would Not RecommendI VERY lightly sanded between coats and it stripped the gel stain off in many places. I had to retouch up a bunch of spots. Not sure why it says to sand...

Beware water
Would RecommendI've used Minwax polyurethane for years to refinish woodwork in the house and am pleased with the finish and ease of application. However, God forbid a drop of water gets on it because you will be left with a permanent spot or ring.

Quality Control Issues
Would Not RecommendI used to love Minwax products, but as others have posted on various websites, they are having issues with quality control lately. While refinishing my wood floors, I bought five gallons of Fast Drying Polyurethane in satin finish. Two of the gallons, while marked satin, clearly have dried in a gloss finish which is very upsetting after the amount of work I have put into this refinishing job. Two bedrooms came out beautifully With the desired satin finish while my staircase and hallway and anoth...

Nice "glass like" gloss on plywood
Would RecommendIf you want your wood working project to make it look like a high end product, then this is the perfect product for you. It leaves a glass-like gloss. Be careful for flying tiny bugs/flies because once they lands on your freshly coated project, they will get stuck and a pain to take them out without leaving a mark. The brush stroke marks and tiny bubbles disappear once it dries. Nice product to add in your ever growing wood working arsenals.

Not happy
Would RecommendI’ve used this product for 25 years as a contractor. Seems something has changed with the durability of it. After two coats, curing well over 24 hours light traffic on it and I have scuff marks. ( good thing it’s my personal floor)

Poor Finish Attributes
Would Not RecommendI should have known, this product is not good. I started using a penetrating stain on red oak, let it dry for a few days then came back to put this on, what a mistake! The first layer, not sure what was going on but pulled the stain out of the wood and wouldn't dry. I lightly sanded 220 to knock any high spots off, then decided to charge forward and finish a second coat. I could tell, right away, it wasn't going to end up good. Alligatoring of the original coat, almost dilsolving it and mak...

Minwax cleargloss poly
Would RecommendUse minwax poly quite often. It spreads great. Dry time is good leaving a very smooth finish. Often apply several or more coats which makes a very hard protecting finish.

Beatiful Color & Finish
Would RecommendUsed the clear satin oil-based, 3 coats, to finish this new solid core front door. The color is Minwax English Chestnut, then finished with 3 coats of poly. No sanding between coats 1 and 2, then a light scuff sand with 400 grit between coats 2 and 3. Absolutely gorgeous!

Advantages and Disadvantages
Would RecommendI've done quite a bit of varnishing in my life and this Minwax Fast Drying Polyurethane varnish has some advantages, but also some disadvantages. The advantage is that it dries very quickly and consequently there isn't a lot of time for dust to settle on the finished piece. It is wonderful for horizontal surfaces. Traditional varnishes have to be stirred very carefully to prevent air bubbles from becoming mixed into the varnish. Because this varnish is "thin", bubbles will not become entrap...
