problems with it

When I first got it it worked great, now it about 90 days old and the speed control is going bad ,it changes the speed on it owned ,the guy who recommended it has the same problems ,it replaced the speed control (his is about 9 months old and paid for it himself )and now it works great again

Like the features and soft start

The bushings were a pleasant surprise. I would prefer the on/off switch to be closer to the handles so it could me operated with a thumb while holding handles. I have only used it once so far.

No collet lock other than a second wrench.

I wish the spindle did not require a second wrench to open the collet.

A real quality tool.

This router replaces one I purchased 30 years ago. What a difference the built in technology makes. The variable speed is nice & speed is maintained throughout the cut. The soft start is a nice touch. Easy to set up the depth & width of cut.

Second one purchased

Have had one of the same model for a number of years . Has served me well. Was time to replace my router table unit ( not this brand) Decided since the M12VC had served me so well I would just get another one. Made a mount to hold the new M12VC and the combination of the new mount system and M12VC router work great. My new mount is from plans purchased thru E bay . love this router

I put this router in a router lift and table that I built and it preforms great, lots of power.

Good value

Have not been able to use it yet, but the quality seems fine and the specs are what led me to purchase, like the fact it comes with both collets and the soft start up.

good/ functional

it works OK. Adjusting the depth is not simple or exact. If the is a fine adjustment option I have not been able to figure it out from the instruction manual. The metal insert in the base plate is a mystery to me and it makes inserting and tightening the guide for my dove tail joiner difficult. it works but the guide tends to vibrate loose because i can not tighten it enough because of the screw in the metal plate in the center of the base plate

Nice solid tool

I really like the feel and balance of this router. The soft start and variable speeds allow you to have great control when using.

For the price, this is a good machine

It runs very quiet. I wish I could adjust it from above my table, but it is still fairly easy to do, although I haven't figured out the micro adjustment yet. Coulters are easy to switch. I had to remove the handgrips to put it in my table. I am considering another one for freehand work. At this price, it isn't worth removing one from my table.

2.25 HP Router

I bought this router based on good reviews and the low price compared to other brands. I traditionally like Porter Cable routers. I am very pleased with how smooth the variable speed is, the solidness of the router, and it is amazingly quiet. I use this router for building cabinet doors. Will recommend this router to friends.

good points bad points

Not user friendly for use in router table, router motor way to difficult to remove. Collet assy.not beefy enough. Have been using porter cable routers for 30 years and the ease of motor removal is superior to hitachi, collet assy. is built much better . Seems as if the collet assy. was designed for price rather than function. These routers (2) were purchased because of the variable speed function and the major difference in pricing. this product worked great for an all purpose tool

Worked good on all the projects that I have used it for like the power and speed adjustment. Heavy duty will hold up to construction use

This product is a good value

The only issue I have with this product is that I had a hard time separating the base from the motor and believe this will improve with subsequent wear. Overall, I'm impressed.

Best router all around

Had to replace a Bosh router with a larger Hp to finish project. Found this one at local store for a Great price and had all the power I needed along with soft start and Variable speed. Works Great!

awesome machine

I love the speed control. Combined with the smooth bearings,it makes the most precision cuts. The rugged design and machineing of the tool makes it easy to adjust and it locks as tight as you need it. It has a very strong motor and with good bits,will chew through anything you throw at it..I am very satisfied and would recommend to anyone..
