Solid performance

I have put this router through many projects and no problems noted. Easy to change bits and very accurate.

Misleading Description on Functionality

First off, the router is fine for fixed cuts...It loses stars for being a trickster: the title and description claim it is a combo plunge/fixed router. This is not true. It is a fixed base router. There are no easy mortise plunge cuts in my future, it would seem.

Not a combo

I ordered this for pick up from the local Lowe's store. When I went to pick it up, I discovered that the item is a fixed-only router with no plunge base. The Lowe's store people told me that it was described incorrectly on the website. Since the website has no picture, the difference was not obvious. Lowe's was nice enough to compensate me for my trouble by giving me a discount on a fixed / plunge router of similar quality.

A well made sturdy router.

I have used many routers and it performed as well as any I've used. Was marked down too so the purchase was a great investment. Would definitely recommend even at regular retail.

Great router

Very ergonomic well designed router. Very quiet and smooth running and variable speed works well.

Strong and dependable.

This is a very food piece of equipment. It runs real smooth and is tough as nails. Hitachi is my main brand of power tools.

Excellent In-table or Hand-held

Mounted router in Skill router table -- excellent results in routing dadoes and in forming decorative edges on corners of top and legs of folding table I made. Haven't had real use for hand-held work, but took it on a "test drive" around some scrap pine and poplar, just to see how it worked. The well-placed handles gave me good Control of the speed of cut, so I was able to put on some nice edges using a flush-trim bit with bearing. Overall, I'm VERY satisfied with this purchase.

Good value, great warranty

I use my Hitachi MV12 router everyday on a Digital Wood Carver CNC. Making mainly cribbage boards and small signs from hard woods, this router has proven to have the power necessary to handle the hardest of woods. I do swap out the brushes at about 200 hours of running time and after each job, I blow the sawdust out of the router with compressed air. But that is the totality of my maintenance. Lacks the power for the price

I got this router as a gift over Christmas of 2017 and a little more than 4 months later the Armature is sending big sparks inside the housing. Once I found out how much my family spent on the router I was disappointed, and bought a new router instead. The takeaway, save your money and buy a different router instead

Speed control stopped working

I have had this router mounted in a router table for several years and always ran it on high speed. I love the power. I now have an occasion to run it at a lower speed and found that the speed control dial was floating loose and non functional. I now need to replace the router with one that I can control the speed.

This product preforms great

After working with wood before, now retired I can make more elaborate things. And this router work great with pine to 100 year oak.

Great router for the money

Bought this router to be used on a router table and as a stand alone for wood projects. This is my second router purchase. My first router is a Ryobi, and it does adequate work, but needed a more powerful unit. I did a little research, and decided on the Hitachi. I'm not disappointed with the performance of this model. The only slight frustration is dealing with removing base to change bits.

Best ever

I've had many routers from different manufacturers but this is the first Hitachi product I've ever owned. This router is the most efficient, reliable and easy to setup and operate. I am completely sold on Hitachi. I will definitely check out other tools for my shop.

easy to use set up quuik

Really like how quiet the motor runs and the soft start is grate. Changing bits and set up is a breeze.I hand problems using the dovetail guides they keep coming loose.The instructions book was not clear on how to use the router. Overall great product would buy another router from hitachi.

Easy to adjust and plenty of power.

These routers are great. I own three that I use every day in my cabinet making business. Easy to use and plenty of power. Hitachi please don't change a thing.
