Very Good Product

I'm extremely happy with this trimmer. The extra heavy cutting wire is so nice. I have a corner lot, with a lot of landscaping to trim around. The battery does well to allow me to get the job done, in one charge.

Battery overcharge

Would have given this at least 4 stars, maybe 5, but one big issue is with the Battery. After being on hold with support for a long time I was told that you can't leave the battery in the charger after it's reached full charge. Unlike, almost every other battery tool I have, you can apparently overcharge this one and damage the battery. It's not easy to remember to go back and remove the battery after it charges overnight. Improve that I'd probably give it 5 stars!

Not a Bad Trimmer At All

I purchased mine for a rental that I was living in and wanted something inexpensive and not as messy as my gas trimmer at home. I abused the heck out of mine for 5 seasons and if finally gave up the ghost. I have two batteries, two chargers and a matching leaf blower. Once you figure out how to properly install the new string cartridges, the string advance works perfectly. I like it better than tapping on the ground, just hit the trigger. I really, really, really wanted this to work out. I am a huge fan of my 40 volt mower and decided to get this trimmer. Well, that is where I end the positives. On this model, the string just will not come out as it is supposed to. I literally need to release the trigger, turn it upside down, push a little button and pull the string to lengthen it. Better than expected

This product performed longer and stronger than I expected for a battery powered weed trimmer. It is different than a gas trimmer, but once you get "used to it" I consider it to be very efficient (not to mention eco friendly!)

So I just bought my first ever battery tool the kobalt 40V. Today as matter of fact. Came home took it out of the box and in 5 minutes it was ready to go. The battery had two bars on it so I took it outside and weeded my yard. It was awesome love it. Dangerous and costly

After using this trimmer just 3 times, I've found the cut-out debris guard actually directs some debris upwards! Don't attempt to use this trimmer without proper eye protection. That danger alone has me wanting to return the unit. The final straw was that it has now run out of line during the 3rd use! Strong 'do not buy' recommendation here. Kicks butt

I am very impressed with this weedwacker. My only complaint is the short battery life. I get about 25 minutes on a fully charged battery.

Durable

We got this unit because we felt the battery would be much better than the one we used prior to this. The only real problem we have encountered so far is the dual strings do not always stay balanced. One or the other consistently breaks off right at the edge of the spinning feeder. So far we are using Kobalt brand pre-strung spools. We'll try winding our own spools with a different brand of string and see if that helps. Otherwise it does a great job of cutting

LOVE THIS TRIMMER!

I have a bad back,so I needed something light.I also don't have a lot a strength, so I can't use a gas trimmer because of the pull start.This trimmer is perfect for what I need.It's lightweight and has a battery that last about 45 minutes, depending on what you're cutting down.The battery recharges in about 15 minutes, and the string spools are easy to change.But the best thing is it will rip through weeds like butter. 40 volt trimmer

Works ok but no way will it cut the mile of weeds they say. It cuts about 150' of weeds on 1 battery. That leaves me with half of back yard untrimmed till the battery recharges. Which takes at least 2 hours or more. 1 battery makes it useless

Powerful

I am a 5'4" 66 year old female, but in pretty good shape. The trimmer does a great job, but is awkward to hold, and quite heavy.

Good Trimmer Bad autofeeder

I have .3 of an acre with bermuda grass. I use this for trimming around flower beds, mailboxes etc. I have no issues with the battery or with the performance when the string is actual deployed. The issue is that the autofeeder is a piece of junk. I spend 15s trimming and then 2 minutes popping the end of to get more trimmer line. The new version of this has a bump feeder instead of the autofeeder so it was obviously a problem. Now I'm trying to deal with the Lowes/Kobalt no hassle warran...

The string feed gets stuck and stops feeding after just a few minutes! I've tried using this trimmer for 3 years without any better success, now i'm bring it back to Lowes!

Spool cover, bad design - get newer model instead

This is for this model, but note they have redesigned this trimmer and I just got it so this review is for the older 2.0 amp model. In this original design the spool cover is plastic and breaks easily and then you cannot purchase a replacement part, and there are no universal parts that fit. So if this breaks, you are screwed. Can't get replacement spools

I've had this trimmer for about a year now and the only issue I have with it is that the spool cover that comes in contact with the ground is very flimsy and has worn completely through. I went to Lowes to buy a replacement spool cover (or another entire spool) and was told that I cannot purchase these. So basically I have a weedeater that I can't use anymore all because of what would normally be a $5 - $10 part. The cover has worn completely through and the string keeps coming out. Overall ...

Trimmer line feed quit working

I didn't have any problems with the trimmer the first year of purchase, but this year the line feed quit working, so it's useless at this point and I'll have to take it in for repair, which will cost about as much as the trimmer! Since this is not a "bump" feed, has anyone had this problem and know the fix?

Decent Trimmer

Bought this last summer because I was tired of dealing with my gas trimmer. I've had it for a year now and it still runs great. It does a fine job of trimming around where the mower won't get. I wouldn't try to use it for super heavy trimming, like heavy overgrown weeded or barky planted areas. It could do it, but that's not what it's meant for. Never had the battery die yet. Pleasantly Surprised

This light weight trimmer easily cut through all the weeds and grass growing beside the house. It even handled the tall weeds near the woods. And I can now throw away the 150' cord I had to use with my old trimmer. The battery didn't even seem to run down the hour I used it.

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE

Bought my trimmer in Apr 2016. Worked absolutely great. Stored it for the winter, plugged in the charger and nothing happened. Called the company because 3 yr warranty. Talked to the battery people and then the charger people, yes two separate people. Was sent a battery within a few days, its been 2 months still no charger!!!! The product was great when it worked, now I have a cordless paperweight.
