Plenty of power, but needs some improvement

First, I'll say that the trimmer does trim well and the battery life is plenty for my 1/2 acre yard; however, this thing is WAY to long. I'm 5'11", so not a short guy, but the tilt of the head and handle length mean that I have to hold the trigger up and behind me. Not comfortable at all....

The spool cap on my Kobalt shattered in only 1 month of use. This would be a decent product if you only use it 5 minutes a week.

Very Good!

Have used an electric string trimmer that had to be bumped to release string but this item works so much more efficiently and the battery makes it so much easier to use. The battery charge lasts long enough for me to do most of my yard and I am usually ready for a rest. It does not take long for battery to recharge. This purchase was recommended by my son who also likes his.

Charger & Battery Dead On Arrival

Not a good start as the charger/battery is dead on arrival. I read some poor reviews on these batteries and took a chance. It is a shame I had it shipped to my home and now need to take it back to the store per the Lowe's rep on the phone. I ordered another yard tool with the same battery charger set and it looks different. It is obvious they had an issue with the battery and charger and are doing poor inventory control.

poor design in shaft

Bought this weed eater a month ago has a poor design in the shaft it goes together like a tent has came disattached on its own twice while operating the second time the whole bottom half of the shaft spun around and broke the whole head that is also a safety concern other than that has great power that's all I can say is good about it

Good performance, Poor ergonomics

I've had this trimmer for a couple of years now and it has performed adequately. I did have to replace the battery but since I had left it outside over the winter I'm assuming that might have contributed to the problem. The one thing I still haven't been able to adjust to is the long shaft. I've moved the handle several times placing it up and down the shaft in addition to flipping it so it's angled forward and backwards but I still have to hold the rear handle well behind my body in order to...

I am 63 years, 5'3" woman. I wanted a weed eater that I could manage and manage I did! Charged it up, held 2 small levers in and I am off to work. It is 7 pounds in weight. The weight was heavy when lifted, but once you start working, you cannot feel the weight as much. I did not use up the battery charge. I did not have to bump any extra line to cut the grass. junk, bought it last year, string breaks right at the head, and i did'nt even start trimming yet. i got so frustraited that i almost broke it in half.

Excellent trimmer, plenty of power. When replacing line, buy the replacement spools, much easier.

Worked great until we had to replace the string cartridge. Wouldn't advance the string. Tried 4 cartridges and had other people load them. Ended up returning it.

Not lovin' it after 2 years...

Like many reviews here, I praised this weed wacker all day long the first summer. Not as enthusiastic the 2nd, because the charge lasted for less and less time. By last fall, I could get 10 min max before it was dead. Not lovin' it at all this 3rd summer, which started out letting me get about 15' trimmed before dying and now it is completely trashed. Changing trimmer line

Trimmer line is difficult to replace. Kobalt gives little support literature or video to support the Trimmer.

My 3rd Kobalt tool and LOVE it!

I purchased this because I already had the chainsaw and love it. I used it for the first time and was so easy. I am a 5 ft 5 woman and found this easy to use and did the job without the mess of gas or cords.

Don't waste your money on this trimmer . . .

I bought this trimmer three years and one week ago. And what a piece of junk it has been! The string is expensive ($20 for three tiny little spools) . . . I have a very small yard and it takes two spools just to trim the edges, and one out of three rolls has to go in the trash as they always get t angles in the spool by the trimmer. I have an old trimmer that this Kobalt was supposed to replace, but am I ever glad I kept it as I wind up using it more than this Kobalt! And, just now I was out...

plastic flanges arrived broken

this is not a safe product. the flanges where the guard is affixed were broken in the box. not a good design. wish you could open the box before checkout.

Do Not Buy

This by far is the worst product that I have ever purchased from Lowes. The box and advertising says that it will work 1.75 acres per charge. Wrong I have 5/8 acre and have had to charge it four times already, AND I AM NOT FINISHED. The auto string feed does not work. I have had to manually advance the string each time. Don't waste your money.

Don't waste your money

Sorry, but this weed trimmer is absolutely worthless. The trim line is too thin and continuously breaks. The line won't feed to you have to take it apart and manually advance the line. I have very little yard to manage, about 10 minutes worth of trimming. In that time I had to manually advance the line 3 times and I still wasn't finished with the yard. The battery works good. I also have the chainsaw and hedge trimmer and they both work great, but this trimmer is just pathetic. I will be buying ...

Good for about one season

Purchased this back in 2015 and I liked it so much I went out and bought the chainsaw to match(I don't recommend the chainsaw at all). In 2016 after one season the battery stopped charging luckily the store replaced it and I was good for one more year but this year the new battery stopped charging as well.

Started off strong, a year later not so much

Bought this in the spring of 2016. Started off strong, was able to trim the fence lines, foundation, around pool, etc, of my approx 80X150' lot. Toward the end of the year started noticing I would run out of battery earlier, sometimes not able to finish the yard on one charge. Fast forward to this spring (2017), I can barely do my front yard and 25% of the back yard and it's dead. Pluses : Strong motor, dual line, can be refilled with any line. Minuses : after 1 year it's kind of usel...
