Can't live without Klein Cable Tester

Unfortunately, I had to buy this again because I left it on a site and can't do without it. Could not do my job of network cable installation without it. This is the best one I have ever used

Great for ethernet, okay for ethernet.

This tester is a huge upgrade over my old one, which only tested connectivity for each conductor. This one actually knows ethernet standards, can determine distance, maps stuff out, all that. The build quality is also really nice. As for coax, it's pretty simple. It can still do distance and mapping, but it doesn't understand signal, so if you're needing to test DTV signals when setting up an antenna, you're looking at a different product. Land your own twisted pair connections. Some techs don't even carry these anymore. Sad.

Works fanatically for testing Ethernet cables. Haven’t tried coaxial yet.

Reliable Tester

This product works great. I had a cheap tester stating the cable worked fine, but it did not. Klien tester immediately let me know that the cable failed on two pins. I feel much more confident with the Klein Tool. Overall, don't waste your money and time on a cheap product. Buy a reliable tester such as Klien tool.

Solid, Could be a little Better

Having never crimped my own cat6 before, I bought this tool to do that job. It did 95% of it wonderfully and I found it relatively straightforward to use. I will say, however, that it took a little getting used to (probably user error) as I at first cut one of the twisted pair when stripping the outer sheath. I took a star off for two reasons. One, I wish there was a way to lock/hold in place before crimping. It's not hard to keep in place, but just a nice to have. Secondly, and maybe this is ...

Easy to use. Detailed screen showed exactly which wires were right and which were wrong.

Be open to experimentation

The stripper worked really well the first time, except that it left the inner wire protruding less than 1/8 inch beyond the fixture, once it was assembled. After the first wire I backed off the guide to allow the wire to go through the stripper a little farther and I also had to twirl around the wire a number of times more than the 4 it required on its first cut. Using those adaptations in technique, it worked quite well.
