Finally, homemade macaroni!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got the Kitchenaid pasta rollers for Christmas last year, which has been great, but I use pasta like macaroni in my cooking often, so I saved up to add this to my kitchen repertoire. I have only been able to use it once so far, and I didn’t have enough semolina flour to match the pasta recipe, but regardless the whole process was a lot quicker than with the rollers, and plenty of macaroni from one batch for multiple recipes. Broke in 2 months.

The pasta ring, (part that holds the past plate in place) snapped in half during normal use. The plastic construction is not very durable. The product lasted 2 months from purchase, used maybe 6 times.

broke after second use !

we used the attachment with success one time and the results were fantastic ! the second time we used it (same recipe) the internal plastic thing that rotates the dough broke. so sad !! we threw the receipt away so Kohl's won't return it. thinking we just got a bad one ?? hoping KitchenAid can help.

Beautiful, high quality machine!

First of all...disregard pasta dough recipe (too dry). After overhauling dough, I made rigatoni. The result was perfect. Clean-up is fairly time consuming. Overall, a great attachment.

User friendly!

I have had this machine for a few years and used it for the first time with great success! Used the kitchen aid recipe to make the spaghetti thought it was dry and added olive oil to make it work. For the rigatoni’s I used my own recipe and it was perfect!

Great when you know what you are doing

1: If your pasta is "glopping/sticking" during / after extruding, You are using too much water. Play with your recipe.. Water and flour(semolina) or Water and Egg(AP) 2: Yes, the disk are a "REAL PITA" to clean.. Clean them ASAP, or let them sit in boiling water. I nuke a coffee cup with water to do this.. Add disks after you nuke, not during. And, I think they might separate.. My spaghetti on does..

Works wonderfully

Easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great unit. Easy to use. Make sure dough rests after mixing and is a little on the dry side so it does not stick when being augered through the die. Very happy. The GKids love to help make and of course eat the pasta!

Make sure the dough is a little on the dry side so it does not stick or separate when the auger begins to move it to the press plate. After that let the machine do the work. Great Elbow pasta

I bought this a week ago and made my first homemade pasta using the small macaroni plate to make macaroni and cheese. I made an eggless dough for the macaroni and cheese, and it was a big hit in my family. It was easy to use.

Wonderful pasta!

My husband and I recieved this as a Christmas gift and we absolutely love it!! It’s easy to use and the recipe works wonderfully to make pasta!! Definitely my favorite attachment!

Terrible Product - You Will Be Disappointed

I love KitchenAid products, but the pasta press is a huge miss. I've had great success making pasta dozens of times with the KitchenAid rollers, and fettuccine/spaghetti cutters, but the extrusion system is an absolute mess. I don't what else to say, but it's just a frustrating product. If you manage to get it to work, the pasta looks terrible. Nothing you'd want to serve to anyone. And for how difficult the product is to setup, use, clean, etc. it's a huge disappointment when you realize the ti...

Disappointed but making it work

First of all, the recipe is wrong. Secondly there is only one recipe. There should be more; gluten free, spinach, garlic herb, etc. It IS hard to clean but that is expected with any pasta maker. Lastly, I can't that they offer any other plates/disks to purchase for variety. What we really wanted were the really thick rounded noodles we find in many Italian restaurants. Great pasta

It was actually fun making the pasta. The different variety of pasta attachments worked well. The only thing disappointing was cleaning. You need some patience, but doable. Would definitely recomend.

Excellent Value and easy to use!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is really easy to use. I used the basic pasta recipe in the instruction pamphlet and it was very good. It was my first time making homemade pasta - who knew it was so easy!! The family loved it.

Recipe is really wrong......!

I just wasted 4 large eggs and 3.5 cups of flour and my time. Very frustrating. It is WAY too dense. It would not extrude. Most recipes call for 3-4 eggs and 2 cups of flour. This is almost twice as much flour. I thought maybe the extruder needed firmer dough and tried the recipe. All I can say is it is just INCORRECT. I will try a different recipe and see if I can make it work.

Fusilli Attachment & Rigitoni Attachment

I got the Gourmet Pasta Press as a Christmas gift, I already own the (3) piece one, which I love using for fettucini, & flat sheets of pasta & angel hair pasta, but I wanted the gourmet one especially for the fusilli & rigatoni,, the fusilli doesn't come out like pictured comes out in straight pieces, as for the rigatoni, it's to thick. For such an expensive product, and to be disappointed in the performance.
