MOST under-rated appliance on the market, love it!

We have had our Kitchenaid trash compactor for just over 6 years. I used to consider a trash compactor a luxury item, but no more. I wouldn’t live without one now that I been spoiled. We take the trash out once a week. Period. No bad smells, no mess, no fuss. I tell everyone I know that is remodeling, or building new to honestly consider purchasing this along with every other appliance.

Defective from the factory

The holes didn’t line up for installing the handle. Contacted Lowes and they picked the compact up and I’ve reordered. Lowes has been great throughout the whole process.

Overall Great but some deal breakers

Not off to a great start, but improved

When we notified warranty they sent a repair company who replaced it with a different pedal, which is also the same one in the display floor at store. So KitchenAid has obviously updated their product with an improved foot pedal. However, it is so much larger and it covers the pedal you push to start the compactor, making it not as easy to get to our push. Other than that, it is wonderful and...

Stainless, quiet and does the job

Nearly perfect

Good replacement

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far so good. Replaced a unit I had for about 15 years. Should include side supports for paper rather than plastic bags like the old one did, but we'll see how it goes. Easy to install and set up. Foot control a bit cumbersome if you have big feet, but I think I'll get used to it. Overall, I like it so far.

My new compactor

Install was sort of easy. Works well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Installed for ten days. Installed level only to discover the door would not clear wood cabinet frame so I had to install a little off level. Opening the door using foot plate is easy. Eventually I learned I could open by lifting the handle as well. Compacting is a two step operation. Last compactor required only on step. Have to step on the foot switch once to compress and then again to retract the press plate.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Beautiful addition to the other 4 new stainless steel appliances. Super easy to install. Easy way to handle trash, compacts into a brick. Simple to unload, reduces the volume of trash to a manageable size.
