What Customers Are Saying
The product has significant reliability and performance issues. Many customers report the smoke/CO alarms failing prematurely, often within 3-5 years despite the claimed 10-year lifespan. The alarms frequently malfunction, randomly beeping or going off without cause, and some fail to detect actual smoke or fire. Customers describe a frustrating user experience, with the troubleshooting process being ineffective. Some also had trouble interconnecting multiple units as advertised. Overall, the product does not meet basic safety and performance expectations.

Have had Kidde smoke alarms and combination alarms in my homes for years. Would not be without them!

Good value
Easy as pie to install, and no false alarms yet (1 month)

Very good product
Had another Kidde alarm that broke about 3-4 years after installing. This one seems to work well (so far)

AOK
I was satisfied with the delivery and easy replacement of my old Kiddes.

Malfunctioned about 15 minutes after install
Would Not RecommendAfter driving to Lowes and purchasing this product (total time 1 hour), I installed the device per instructions (20 minutes...mostly to find my drill bits). It started chirping every 30 seconds about 15 minutes after install. That's the dreaded "malfunction" chirp. Of course I'll return the product, but I'll never get that hour of my life back. I've started to see this more and more with Lowe's and Home Depot products. These companies should compensate for "installation time" and travel time. I...
Saved my life
Would RecommendOne evening before bed I turned our gas fireplace on but forgot to open the flue. About an hour later I was awakened by this alarm loudly warning me about carbon monoxide. This alarm literally saved my life. I don't even remember buying this combination alarm as the others I bought at the same time are all just fire/smoke alarms. This alarm is well worth the few extra dollars spent on it.
All the features you would wish for
Would RecommendMy old carbon monoxide detector reached the end of its life. I was pleased to find this unit which acts a back up for my smoke alarm as well as serving as a replacement for my old carbon monoxide dectector. The voice alert feature alerts you to which problem you may be having. Overall seems to be an ideal unit for my use.
Mine started to beep every 30 seconds and died yesterday after 9 years so I am replacing it immediately. I like the fact that it gives not only beep alerts but also has a voice telling you exactly that the alert is either fire or carbon monoxide. In the above box under value, I listed it as excellent -- any price is worth it to to wake your family to get out of a CO2 filled house or a fire -- how much better of a value can you get?
Poor design
Would Not RecommendI thought this detector would be the answer to my prayers. Little did I expect that it would be overly sensitive to fluorescent bulbs. Every time I turn on the hall lights, this little monster comes screaming at me “testing, testing” and assuring me I have a lethal amount of carbon monoxide as well as a smoky fire (I admit the oven doesn’t like how I prepare pizzas, but give me a break!). Even worse, I have 5 dogs who are home alone all day. This monster self-tests when I’m at work, without any ...
Definitely a keeper!
Would RecommendI had no idea when I bought this, it has been that long ago, but it came highly recommended by the store employee that I spoke to about these. Then, last night we got the end of life 30 - second chirp notification - this has been a very good detector! No false alarms, and it lasts! Easy to install, easy to change batteries, and love that it uses AA batteries! We are definitely going with this again! No complaints whatsoever!
gets the job done
Would Recommendinstallation is trivial. its nice to have CO and Fire/Smoke all in one place. Easy to Use push button, its nice that it runs on Double A batteries which are cheaper and easier to come by than 9 volts.
A must have!
Would RecommendBought two of these when I bought my home back in July of 04. Two weeks ago got that single beep every 30 seconds which means malfunction. The other night, the other one does the same thing! I say, wow! two at the same time? Not realizing that they have a 7 year life. I am O.K with that. They have done thier jobs well, especially the one near the Kitchen(many burned dinners, LOL!) Will gladly buy this again!
Best Ever - Works Right Notifies on Replacement
Would RecommendBest Detector ever - fortunately we never had to use the CO but the smoke sure works. This is easy to install, easy to remove to change batteries and never falses. At 7 + years it started chirping, changed the batteries twice in both of them and would not stop. Got online (complete manuals, a forum and more are available to help). Had the answer in seconds - the CO detector part had a control that signals when it is time to replace and it last about 7 years - so...... Off to Lowes Gotta run, Lo...
Can it Really Detect Carbon Monoxide?
Would RecommendSeems pretty good and took about a minute to install. I do have questions about its ability to detect carbon monoxide though. I turned on my car in the garage for a few minutes and put the detector in the garage. It never picked up carbon monoxide. I burned some paper and it did detect smoke.
Best purchase
Would RecommendWe purchased our alarm 8 years ago. It has just now malfunctioned. We never had a carbon monoxide scare, but my husband knew when the mac and cheese was spilling over in the oven.. We were checking to make sure Lowes still stocks this model. We will be out to purchase a new one. We would recommend this item to anyone.
Thanks
Would RecommendThanks alarm. You got me and my kids out of a potentially dangerous situation. Last night the carbon monoxide detector went off on our downstairs unit. As soon as I heard it I got the kids out and called 911. (I was hoping it was just an alarm malfunction, but not the case.) The alarm detected the elevated levels on the second floor. (Although I'm not sure why the identical unit in the problem room didn't go off.) The fire department came with their meters and told us to take the kids somewhere ...
TERRIBLE
