It only lasted 3 years. I followed the troubleshooting guide and did the rest but it didn't work. The guide says it needs to be replaced. Very disappointing.

Our recently built home had this combo alarm installed. After 7 months, it has announced low battery and no matter how many times we replace the batteries eith brand new ones, it refuses to stop chirping!!!

Lasted 16 months then failed

Failed after 16 months. Alarm sounded. Reset the area and attempted a test. It gave a low battery beep. Replaced the batteries with standard (new) and rechargable. Still got the low battery indication. Toss the alarm in the trash.

Even more frustration, disappointment

Like the previous reviewer, after hearing the low battery chirping (less than 2 months after installation) I too replaced with fresh E91 AA batteries according to instructions. Then hit the reset button. Then tried several times to make sure I had the polarity correct. However, even after all that--now I can't get any sound out of this unit whatsoever. Wish I'd read the reviews here before buying. This is is straight-up junk, no KIDDE-ing.

Carbon monoxide alarm won’t stop

I bought and installed 6 of these kidde combined alarms 2 years ago when I moved into my new home. Tonight the carbon monoxide alarm has gone off (with no source and the other non-kidde brand alarms are not going off) in an alarm and won’t stop even when we change batteries. Help!

Early this morning (4:40am CDT) our fire alarms started going off. The message was that their was both fire and carbon monoxide. We couldn't get them to shut off. I had replaced the batteries in all the detectors back in May of this year. Well - I missed one detector. Because the battery was low - it triggered an alarm. This detector is marketed as a smoke detector although it uses ionization technology that is more suited for fast flaming fires and should be correctly identified as a fire detector. Smoke detectors are more clearly identified as photoelectric and are better at detecting smoke. Kidde is a great company who make excellent products… the package and device should identify the technology being used.
