Oversensitive?
Just moved into a brand new home with these brand new smoke/carbondioxcide detectors. Everytime we cook on the stove top, the alarm for fire goes off. We use the stove vent and the room isn't even smoky but sure enough everytime it goes off. Very irritating and makes the reliability of the product really questionable

To be fair, I did not buy this item my wife did, voice messages don't seem terrible on their surface, but I will never buy anything of the Kidde brand for as long as I live, this is such a stupidly designed machine. I've tested this product out and the only issue is that there's no volume control. You should have a min to max range of loudness so it can be heard from 2nd floor if installed in basement where the furnace is located.

Not worth it.
I shopped the website and clicked on various models for all of the features that I wanted. The website wasn't clear enough on which models talked and interconnected and ran off of 120 volts with battery back-up. I ended up buying six of a speaking model with batteries but it turns out the batteries are for power; not backup. These don't run off of 120 volts and they don't interconnect. The battery compartment on the first alarm I ordered would not stay closed. That is the reason for 3 stars on quality. I was sent as replacement at no charge. Both tested properly so I assume they will operate properly
