Would Not RecommendMost pathetic product. Stopped working after 7 months. Called on help line number, the lady over the phone making false excuses not to obay the warranty terms.

Terrible product, not trust worthy
We had 5 of these installed after our house was rebuilt. Bad choice. After a few months we had a false alarm yelling fire! Lately we get a beep in the middle of the night. I removed it and found the battery was good.

Cries Wolf
Fails WAY too often (for us, usually at 2 or 3 in the morning)

If you want nuisance alarms, these are for you!
Would RecommendNothing but problems, complete junk. Replaced units, replaced batteries, still getting nuisance alarms

Bad Product - Keeps Chirping
Would Not RecommendI replaced an old smoke alarm with this new one. After only a few hours it starts chirping; battery seems fine.
From Kidde
Kiddie used expired batteries (per their wording).
I bought a case (6) of these. They were a year old (made 2023) and the batteries Kiddie had them expire in 2025--hardly within their own 4-5 year out guideline. Thus, Kiddie used batteries they say should not be used. Started chirping at 1:30AM. All batteries were too low to use and had to be replaced, two completely dead. I read of problems, but wanted to use these detectors simply because I didn't want to have to redo the electrical wiring for 11 of them and could use existing connections.

Don't put your life at risk!
Would Not RecommendInstalled 13 months ago. Started chirping.. Battery date is 6-2025 still 12 months out. Battery is dead. Why does a ac wired smoke alarm use a battery in 13 months? Because it's a bad design. This is a defective life saving device and should be recalled!

Junk product?
Would Not Recommend1 yr old, battery at 1.4, chirps at night even after battery change; same problem described in previous reviews.

Don't buy this faulty smoke alarm.
After only 5 years on a 10-year warranty all of my smoke alarms went off in the middle of the night and wouldn't stop, even after numerous attempts to shut them down. I had to call the fire department to disable them. I will NEVER buy a Kidde product again.

Easy
Would RecommendEasy to install. It has an adapter so you do NOT have to rewire if you are replacing an old alarm. Front loading battery.

Faulty interconnecting
I got 7 of these back in November last year and they worked fine until January when one beeped on me for about a second. I got up on a stepladder to see what was going on and I noticed the alarm was getting hot. Then I pressed the test button and noticed the alarm wasn’t interconnecting with the others. Then I went to test the rest of them and then and then I found another one in a different room that wouldn’t interconnect. Then one day I had the exact problem that apparently several other peopl...

Worst smoke alarm
Would Not RecommendI bought this about a month ago. This alarm goes off if you light a candle in the house. I absolutely hate this alarm. Every time we make dinner we need to take unhook it, and take the battery out. I’ll never buy Kidde again. Way too expensive for all the hassle. This should be sold at the dollar store not big box stores

Not impressed.
Would Not RecommendThe existing detectors in house were 30 years old. Tried to replace with this model. When plugging detectors in the alarm goes off. Have followed all the directions, removed battery, disconnected power, held the reset to no avail. Plug back in and alarm goes off. Not impressed.

Great product
Would RecommendI bought my house 12 years ago and installed 7 of the i12060 units. I haven't had any issues. They will go off when something gets burnt in the kitchen but have not had any issues with over sensitivity. I did see a lot of complaints about chirping and people saying they just put new batteries in. I did figure out once that generic dollar store batteries will not work in these units for more than a day or two. I replaced a battery with a generic dollar store battery once cause its what I had. 3 d...

Nighttime Nightmare
Would Not RecommendI replaced all our our hardwired smoke detects around 2 years ago with i12060A. We now get multiple spurious whole house alarms going off several nights per week. Always at night. Why?? Certainly don't recommend.

If You Hate Taking Alarms off this is for you!
Would RecommendThis one has to be the most advanced design yet. There is no need to take the detector off to replace the battery. No, you don’t need to take the harness of Either! It also has Smart Hush™️ to prevent nuisances even More! This is also a good Suitable Replacement for the 1276!

Disappointing Experience
Would Not RecommendWe had a series of these units installed in an addition last Fall, and before we even received our final occupancy permit, one of the units had failed. We've now been back in the house for about 4 months (it's a weekend/vacation house) and we've experienced over-sensitivity in the unit in a bedroom off of the kitchen, just like others have described. Unless we close the bedroom door, anything we cook (even popcorn) with just a tiny bit of smoke sets the unit off unless we close the bedroom door....

Starting to fail after 5 years
Would Not RecommendPurchased a dozen, installed 5 years ago. Over the past few weeks 2 have failed. I opened up both units and they were whistle clean (I replace my HVAC filter regularly, keep my windows closed, and house clean) so dust/lint is not the issue. I can't have my family woken up at night to a dozen smoke detectors going off when they have good batteries and operate in a clean, temperature controlled environment. My only choice to to replace them one-by-one, waking up the family every time, or replace t...

Negative Reviews and Positive Reviews?
Would RecommendThe reason for the negative reviews is the battery must by DURACELL and Energizer REGULAR version. All the ENERGIZER 9volt batteries now are the ENERGIZER MAX 9 volt. The reason as a backup battery must be installed and it must be REGULAR duracell and REGULAR energizer. and MUST BE ALKALINE. The reason is the alarm has a circuit called a comparator circuit that is used to determine the strength of the battery. Now it's a small software in the chip board and MUST be exact match or you get ER...

Model # i12060A JUNK!!!!
Would Not RecommendDON'T BUY THIS MODEL!!!! Let me start with we've never had any problems with Kidde products in the past until now. Purchased a new built home and this model was installed throughout the entire house. a few months after moving in, we noticed Intermittent chirping, that the manual says is from low battery.with one of the units. Replaced battery in the unit multiple times and it still chirps. You'd think with all of the similar complaints they'd stop manufactuing this model!!! If my other units sta...
