Model 12060A failed 2 years after installation

My builder installed Kidde 12060A smoke detectors in 2014. I replaced all 7 units in 2023. Now one of those 3023 units has failed. I’ve replaced the 9 v battery with a know good battery twice in the last day and a half. Chirping started up again 8 hours later after both recent battery replacements. This model is no longer available.

Not happy

I just replaced two of them just a couple of years ago and they beep without a cause! I've replaced the batteries and still the same one beeping!! I had to disconnect the both of them to prevent the beeping noise.

Horrible.

They suck. Small fonts while leaving large empty areas. Will beep after battery replacement. No manual on the website (they push 'smart' models).

Not happy

I bought this smoke alarm 3/27/23 . Here it is 10/24/25 only 3 years and it started chirping, changed the battery hit the reset button. It was fine for a couple hours, then chirped again. Hit the reset button and kept chirping every once in a while so had to go buy a new one. I thought these were supposed to last 8 to 10 years. that’s why we pay the money that we pay for the good ones or at least we thought it was good.

Can't turn it OFF !

Same issue as many others...... repeated chirping from hardwired wall section.....tried several new batteries, cannot silence the chirping. Want to go back to unwired battery units 'old school' which NEVER failed.

Failed Quickly and no disposal info

Our detector failed via intermittent chirping after less than a year and replacing the still-good battery did not help. This is compounded by lack of info on the Kidde website on whether this detector is OK to dispose of in regular trash or if it must be taken to a hazardous waste facility. Avoid ionizing detectors like this one!

Poor quality, only last about 3 months

Replaced 8 units that worked for over 10 years. These 8 Kidde i2060A units won't last 4 months. Keep going off, acting like the battery is dead (this is a hard wired with Battery back up model). Getting tired to trying new 9v batteries (9v batteries are not cheap). Have gone through all the battery brands the manufacturer says to use, no good. When you take the batteries out, they test brand new on a multimeter. Only option is to replace the units. Pure junk.

No Good

I have 9 of these hard wired smoke alarms in my house, they were installed August 2024. They have started going off 3am randomly and now they are blinking red. Changed all the batteries several times tried to reset nothing works. Would like a refund on the 12 units I purchased, would not recommend Kidde to anyone. Used to be a reliable product.

Perfect 2 am wake up call when you want it or not

Seriously for a device that is suppose to save lives, these things are killing me and my family. They randomly go off for no reason between the hours of 12 midnight and 4 am. We replace batteries, clean them with compressed air/ vacuum cleaner per the instructions, and even dropped a couple hundred bucks replacing them all in my house, yet some how they go off These things suck

False alarms

Had these installed by an electrician when we upgraded our electrical panel. Had them for two years, had a few issues with false alarms going off. Now, recently, they keep giving false alarms. I even had to leave work early once because a neighbour alerted us. There seems to be a lot of negative reviews for this product, so buyer beware. Will be replacing them with another brand. I would give zero stars if I could.

Please PLEASE don't waste time & money

On the wall less than 2 months. Chirps. CONSTANTLY. Should have read the reviews first. This is awful.

Way too sensitive!!!

I replaced an older kidde model with this one because the older model was discontinued. I was hoping I could just swap out the units but the wire and base didn't match so it was an ordeal. The older model was great but this one has given me so much anxiety. It randomly chirps (not low battery) and sets my dog off in a panic. Everytime I cook I have to set a fan understand to blow any whisper of smoke away or it'll go off. I've been showering with the bathroom door open and the steam from my show...

Awful

Moved into our house that has these. House built in 2018. Starting 2 months ago, these go off randomly and like everyone else mentioned, only at night! I’m pretty sure at this point if there was a real fire I wouldn’t even believe it.

Please replace with a good model

I bought this product 2 years ago and its functioning right. Tried lots of new batteries and no change, its ok for a little while then beeps again at 3am. I have two units and both need replacing as I don't trust them.

The hush button is useless. Batteries are junk.

These are junk. Mine has never worked properly. It was in the hall outside of the kitchen. The test/hush button silences the alarm for 2 seconds. I covered it with the red plastic cover and it still go off any time I fry for a few minutes. How are we supposed to cook in the kitchen when the hush button does not hush? Kidde back-up batteries are a joke. Year old, originally installed batteries showing 9.1 volts cause the chirp, chirp. The chirp software appears to only work at 3 am. i12060A Mfg...

Don't Buy!

Moved into a house with these alarms. They are awful! They go off when a ceiling fan is on, they use up batteries like crazy and you have to change them every six months! I hate this product and I have about 12 of them in my house! Don't buy this smoke alarm if you value your sanity!

Too sensitive

Too sensitive, can’t cook. Even with windows and doors open alarm goes off. Total nuisance.

Not for the kitchen

Super sensitive to cooking fumes. Don't use this one if you like to cook.

False alarms, always in the middle of the night

We have 6 of these, manufacture date 2019. Last year Kidde replaced one unit under warranty because of spurious alarms in the middle of the night. Last night we had another false alarm, again int the middle of the night, but this time we couldn't identify the initiating unit because NONE of the units showed the red LED.

Creepy but reliable

My kidde i12060a never had any false alarms for 10 years this smoke detector was great and it never went off except when it always creeps me out when I sleep because it always blinks red every like 30 seconds.
