i like how quiet it is and the weight is nice to handle. but i dont like how the 1/4 collet sticks in the router and the bite but other than that i will use this a lot.my father inlaw has an older plung version that i liked so i bought this one because of that.

This product does what it is supposed to do and efficiently

The only problems I had were trying to get the router bit out from the drive. It is a very tight fit. I had to clamp it in my vice and really force the bit out. I broke my 1/4 bit doing this the first time. Also, I find that the power button is in an awkward position, but overall a nice machine.

Quiet and it works well.

I love everything about it except the plunge base does stick, as others have said. So I wish I had just bought the router, but not the plunge base. But it seems plenty powerful, is quiet, and I love the soft start and variable speed. I like the smell of this router too -- it smells like The Future. Overall I'm happy with this machine and will recommend it to others.

This router is above average.

This router works great except that the collet extractor doesn't always work, leaving the collet and bit stuck in the shaft of the router motor.

THE MOTOR OF THIS ROUTER IS THE BEST I EVER USED. I'VE BEEN USING ROUTERS FOR 38 YEARS. FIXED BASE THE HIGHT ADJ. STYLE SUCKS, IF YOU HAD A RACK GEAR & FINE ADJ. YOU WOULD HAVE THE BEST IN THE MARKET. TURNING THE MOTOR AROUND FOR HIGHT ADJ. KEEPS THE POWER CORD IN YOUR WAY ON MANY CUTS. I WAS LOOKING FOR MUCH BETTER FROM HITACHI. THE PLUNGE BASE IF THE PLUNGE SLIDES WAS SMOOTH AND NOT STICK DOWN YOU COULD USE THIS THING. VERRY POOR QUALITY CONTROL. AND THE PLUNGE LOCK LEVER SHOULD NOT NEED SO MU...

Quality control / users manual

In reading the users manual it was noted that the outside shell could slide off in order to mount a bit. Well, in reality it can not be removed by loosening the hold down belt and twisting it. The bit can be installed however, but not as indicated within the manual. I wrote a note to tech support regarding this with "NO" response from your company. Hence I am not happy with the Hitachi performance at all.

My first router, works great for me, only problem is changing bits when mounted in table, shank should be longer.

Excellent product for the price point

I decided to purchase this Hitachi router over a similar sized Bosch router because the Hitachi was priced lower. I have used it for several woodworking projects, and found that it is a very nice and comfortable tool to use. It came with a durable case, which is helpful with sstorage. It also came with a bunch of your common-use accessories. I found that it cuts through lumber like butter when used with a nice Bosch bit, or with something of similar quality. I would like to mount it to a router...

The only router you'll ever need to purchase.

I own three other routers but this was my first one with plunge capability. I am very impressed with the ease of adjustments and overall performance of this tool. I would highly.recommend this to hobbyists and craftsman.

Powerful, quiet, easy to use

I shopped around for a compact, powerful and quiet router and am very pleased with this model. The price point is just right also. I gave an average score for durability only because I have had it for only a year; in that year it has worked flawlessly. I recommend it.
