What Customers Are Saying
The Harvest Organic Raised Bed Soil has received mixed reviews. Many customers found the soil to be well-suited for raised beds, with a good texture, drainage, and organic content that helped their plants thrive. However, some customers reported issues such as the soil containing excessive wood or bark material instead of actual soil, stunted plant growth, and even plant death. While the soil may work well if amended with additional ingredients, it may not be suitable as a standalone growing medium for all plants. Customers are advised to carefully inspect the soil before purchase and be prepared to supplement it as needed.

Would RecommendI bought these instead of another brand because you get more for your money. Seems to be great so far.

The thinnest bag for packaging!
Would Not RecommendI ordered a pallet of this dirt and EVERY bag had a large hole in it. The dirt might be good but you don't get your money's worth. In this day in age when every penny counts, I feel cheated by this company and it's lousy packaging.

Stunted plant growth. Overpriced mulch.
Would Not RecommendUnfortunately bought and used 16 bags. It stunted my gourd plants and slime mold has taken over the surface of the soil like what you’d see on rotten logs in the forest. This so-called soil is glorified overpriced mulch. I had to buy another variety of soil and transplant my gourds. I don’t know if it’s too late for them at this point. Here’s a comparison of the freshly (yesterday) tiny transplanted one-month old gourd vs. one that is two weeks younger that came up as a volunteer in a separa...
Planting soil
Would RecommendI created a raised garden and wanted to have good soil that would help retain moisture for the plants.

Yard Waste, wood chips and misc weed seeds in it.
Would Not RecommendIts yard waste! I had to screen each bag. Majority of it was woodchips and even had some trash in it. I'm now getting lots of small things growing in my beds so much that its cover most of the things I have planted before they sprouted. Not sure what else is mixed in this bag. Junk. This just screwed up 8 raised beds...no idea what is growing but its out competing the things I actually planted. Could have gone to the town recycling center and gotten free and better stuff than this.
Great filler for my raised beds.
Would RecommendI purchased fifteen bags of this soil and it was all clean and rich.

More mulch than soil
Would Not RecommendI usually make my own soil mix to amend the soil, but tried to take a shortcut this time. Mixed in to the soil I already have it's okay, but I find that the contents is more wood than anything. I probably won't buy this again.
didn't buy
Would Not RecommendI am going to top up my raised bed & try out a couple of grow bags. These reviews are so all over the place that I'm afraid to buy this! The price is good, it claims to be organic, and yet... I may try one grow bag full as a test. But the reviews are so bad I won't risk messing up my raised bed. I'll let you know how it goes later on in the season.
