Would RecommendWe upgraded from a simple bird feeder to this one since some squirrels had been raiding the feeder. Very happy that you can adjust the spring tension for smaller or larger birds (at medium we are also deterring blue jays). The squirrels have tried to eat but the perches close the door with their weight and even if they try, the narrow openings will make it challenging for them.

Would Not RecommendSquires can hold on to the roof and eat from the top. The roof/filling location is not secure either. they can open the top, get inside feeder, and eat till they are full. DO NOT PURCHASE, IF YOU HAVE SQUIRREL PROBLEMS!!

Would Not RecommendThe feeder does not feed the seed easily as the birds eat. It also clogs up and has to have something poked in to loosen the feed. Like other purchasers, I rarely have to add seed and we are in a deep cold spell. This is very disappointing as the options for squirrel resistant feeders is slim. Look for another brand.

Would RecommendBluebirds, Cardinals, Woodpeckers, Chickadees, etc. It took a couple of months for the local birds to use it regularly, but it is a busy place every morning now. I hung it on a shepherd's hook outside a window, very entertaining. I haven't had squirrel problems on the feeder, but if I see a squirrel approach, I scare it away. It is important to regularly (weekly) clean out the feeder to eliminate grass seeds germinating which can clog the feeder. Cleaning also reduces contamination and disease.
