Battery does not charge/stay charged

Stay away from this unit. There are several AC repair companies who have reported battery and other failures with this unit and it's true....I purchased this unit back in May 2023 and it will not hold a charge regardless of whether the C-wire is connected or not and now won't even charge manually. Google support is useless....I'm now having to take my issue to the BBB

Sometimes you get a dud!

Purchased this to replace one that was a dud. Unfortunately, I worked with Google to troubleshoot, which is a lengthy process. My advice is that if you buy a Google product, be certain any problems are identified within Lowes return window (in this case, 90 days). I’m disappointed, but not with Lowes. Replacement worked perfectly.

DO NOT-DO NOT USE with older HVAC

Do not use on a unit without a "C" wire. Really, Really do not use on an older unit. I had a great unit, clean, ran great. Transparency, it was 19 years old. Cold air, warm heat. No "C" wire. Hooked up NEST. It blew the controller unit on the HVAC within hours. Diagnosed before i made the repair. No doubt it was NEST. Wiring hooked up correctly, in fact only way to hook it up R,G,Y,W. No "C". $7k to replace..leaving nothing to chance,I went with a non-programmable thermostat unit. Let it be said...

Didn't last 6 months and two replacements failed.

Great if it doesn't die on you. Original Nest didn't make it 6 months before the Wi-Fi chip died. Google sent two replacements. First replacement was dead on arrival. Second displayed a vastly incorrect indoor temperature and it wouldn't hold a charge so it would shutdown on it's own. Every replacement is used/refurbished but Google charges the full price if you don't send back the defective device in time.

I like just about everything with the product. What we found out and quite frankly scared us, was that a lot of people said that their system overloaded. Our old (vintage) thermostat aggravated us for the last time. It was manually operated unit which means you must actually push buttons to make the temperature you’d like change up and down.
