Not my fav

The fact that it looks like you can turn it but then have to touch a spot on one side to to anything is difficult. Had over a month and still not used to it. Also You can’t use the nest app you HAVE to use Google Home. Makes no sense. I have nothing else I use on google home.

Not As Described

Thermostat has a rather cheap feel to it and makes it feel easily breakable.We purchased this unit specifically because it's battery operated and we knew we didn't have a C wire. Despite being advertised as an option for thermostats that don't have a C wire, even this thermostat doesn't work without the C wire.

Nest Thermostat

I love our new Nest thermostat, I love the way I can control it from my phone from anywhere in our home. Also I hooked it up to out Alexa and my family can control from that device.

I need training on how to use it.

My handyman installed it and I’ve forgotten how to use it. I’m in my mid-60s, so I need large print instructions for a simple, to-the-point video.

Ok thermostat

Wasn't seamless connecting, had to search on line to find solution, needed common wire. App works great and easy to program. Controlling from the unit isn't a good experience. I stayed at an Airbnb recently that had the better version. Spend the extra money and get the best one.

Difficult set up

It was not very easy to set up multiple errors. Had to Google whatbth issue was vs the app walking me through we figured it out, but woukd have been nice for troubleshooting steps to walk you though. Overall I do like the nest, still having difficult with the economy setting and dropping the heat to 56 need to figure that out next

Works great!

The previous smart thermostat worked most of the time, but was slow to respond to changes and frequently was inaccessible from the Google Home app or proprietary app from the manufacturer.The Nest Thermostat on the other hand is very reliable and works very well.

Nest with Heat Pump

Had to go back to my more conventional Honeywell Wi-Fi Thermostat. Could not get the Nest to perform properly with my Heat Pump System, with regard to the frequency of heating cycles and on/off temperature interval.

Started working right away

I needed a new thermostat for an in law suite and this Nest product for the bill. Installation was made easy by the animated step by step instructions. Not long after the thermostat was installed I started getting suggestions on how to save energy.

Great upgrade for me, but...

I'm happy I finally have a "smart" thermostat that I can control remotely from my phone. HOWEVER, I have one HUMONGOUS problem with the Nest. The SOFTWARE. Google feels that it knows my house better than I do, and INSISTS on only providing the option to set a "hold" temperature for up to 24 hours at a time. When it ends it CONSTANTLY wants to play "nanny" and turn my temp down in the winter to insanely low temps. WHY can't I just have an option to set the temperature at 71 and LEAVE IT THERE??? ...

Nest thermostat

It was a little more difficult than the hub to install (good instructions for wiring, and pretty straight forward anyway). It is causing some grief - we are home all day, everyday, and it keeps changing to eco mode and resetting to 56 degrees. Tried to find a way to disable this mode, but no luck so far. Other than that it works well with the hub and is easy enough to reset temps.

Good, but lacking a few niceties

For me it was hard to install, as I had no C wire. Most people won't have this issue. There are two changes I wish it had:1) it is small, so had little chance of covering the hole. So you may need to buy a faceplate, which are outrageously expensive relative to generic faceplates. Google could sell these as an addon at a reasonable price.2) I wish you could change the display, even just a little. The "set" temperature is huge, and the "measured" temperature is small, IMHO backwards. BUT wh...

We have a Nest thermostat both upstairs and downstairs. The upstairs thermostat is “offline” 75% of the time. While it still works, and we can still adjust the thermostat, it is not accessible through the app, which is part of the draw of having a smart thermostat. Its a lot of work to troubleshoot and get it back online each time this happens. It seems there is a different reason for it being offline each time. The downstairs Nest has never had this issue.

Nest thermostat - works as advertised

Overall, works as expected. Installs relatively easily with backplate. The backplate seems to be curved backwards as it curves away from the wall which is weird. I guess it is just the way it was designed. It is not feature rich as you would expect from others but then again, this was the cheapest Nest thermostat. Easy to install, intuitive to control

Great smart thermostat and a huge upgrade from the dumb one that came default on the wall. I love that it knows when I'm not home so I don't waste money heating/cooling an empty place.

Nest Is Best

Easy to install; easy to use; easy to buy. Has given me remote access from another state, and the ability to adjust my home's comfort level from bed! One extreme to the other, both just as easy.

Always enjoyed these.

This isn’t out first nest thermostat. We have always enjoyed having this system as it makes it so nice for hot or cold day to control all that’s going on with our home.

pain in the butt to install

doesn't work with old systems, pain in the neck to wire and difficult to get it to connect to my phone.
