What Customers Are Saying
The doweling jig appears to be of poor quality, with many users reporting issues such as instability, inaccurate measurements, and the inability to produce straight, centered holes. The majority of reviews express significant dissatisfaction, and most users advise against purchasing this product, suggesting it is better to do the job manually or with a drill press instead. While a few positive reviews mention the jig working well, these are greatly outnumbered by the negative feedback, leading to an overall assessment that this is a low-quality tool that does not perform as expected.

Would RecommendWe used this to modify a king size head board down to a queen size. This jig kit had the right size jig to complete the job precisely.

costly out come
Would Not RecommendBuild a jig to "try" and hold this jig straight enough to dill straight;however, being the jig itself is plastic and the drill guide being wobbly it was little help. the dill bits provided are also way to long to position the stopping collar anywhere close to a normal dowel depth unless it is intended to lock the collar on the flutes of the drill bit (doesn't work). This tool would need a lot more mass and the drill guide stabilized and lengthened to be of any use. Original probably worked cheap...
Waste of time and money
Would Not RecommendDoes not work well. Difficult to align, guide wheel moves while using to drill hole, rolls off work piece and will not stay in place. walks down material as well. Also does not align hole in a vertical alignment to material. Holes were all off center and not straight in material. Would not recommend wasting your time with this one. Save yourself some time and money and spend it wisely on a better doweling jig.
If I tightened it so that it wouldn't move, it would make the wood and connection so that I would be drilling at an angle, instead of straight in. I returned it.

flimsy
Would Not RecommendThe contraption is so flimsy that it vibrates unnecessarily during use. Holes end up larger than the drill bit because the device flexes so much.
Great Product

Pro Doweling Jig Kit
Would RecommendI was reluctant to try this but I did anyway. It worked OK but I was a little off matching the edges. This was probably mostly my doing as I was not used to using it and it did wabble a little. Overall I am satisfied and actually look forward to trying it again.

This just WORKED
Would RecommendI had a chair arm with (2) dowel's off center instead of (1) dowel in the center. This tool allowed me to center offset holes and repair the chair. It was easier than trying to do by hand and eyeball alignment. Every house should have one. The drills that came with the kit were not ground properly, get yourself some better ones.

Not the same as the original 840.
Would RecommendThe original was all cast metal, this has plastic ends. not able to drill a dowel hole real close to the end of wood. The rest lip on the wood is only on the outside of the shafts. The original versions resting lip was all the way across the outer head. This jig does a good job for most projects using dowels, this is a good jig.

Would RecommendUsed to put dowels in between board and trim. Had all the tools in kit to complete my project. Made a strong bond between.

Other reviews are on point
Would Not RecommendWhat can I say that the other reviews haven’t already? This jig could be great, but just isn’t. Here we go: Plastic construction flexes enough that holes do not drill true. The barrel oscellates as you drill holes, thereby increasing the nominal dowel hole size significantly. The built-in gauge is off about a 1/16th of an inch, so to properly center hole, each must be measured with a seperate tool. There is enough molding flash on the allignment surfaces to throw off correct hole placement. The ...

Worthless waste of money
Would Not RecommendBought this to help with the first time I attempted to use dowel pins on a shelf project. Went to join two 1x6 boards on edge and after three attempts that i was an 1/8" or more off I pitched the jig itself and went with the eyeball method and got closer than this wobbly hunk of junk. The rotating jig wobbles 1/8", the drill bits had a slight bend to them making the situation worse and the clamp never stayed in place enough. It not only drilled the holes in the wrong spot as the bit wobbled i...

No good
Was a waste of my time and money to use this. Had to buy another brand after only one use due to the fact that this item was very unstable when trying to use.

Poor piece of equipment
Would Not RecommendFirst, packages says it is self centering. It is not. Drill guide hole wallowed out after about 20-25 holes. Then saw where the device would tilt on an angel when clamp was tightened. Lost several pieces of wood due to machines poor quality. Store won't take it back due to being used. Made my own modifications. Works better, but I would not buy another one, or anything from general.

Almost perfect for the price!
Would Not RecommendThis kit provide everything one needs to add Dowling pins to join two pieces together. Improvement would be a self centering feature.
