Great for checking firewood

This product is easy to use. Just press the probes into the end of the wood and it tells you the moisture content. make sure you press the probes in straight. You can bend the probes, but they will straighten out. It is accurate. It works as advertised. I would not be without this product if you buy firewood to heat your house. not real pleased with features

Low battery indicator is always showing even after fresh battery is installed. Sound feature is not audible. I have to assume the moisture reading are accurate.

housing material

The housing material seems to be on the less expensive side, I would be concerned when this device gets dropped for the first time.

Good moisture meter.

I've never used any others but this one seems reliable. The pins are VERY easy to bend so be careful testing hardwoods. The power button has to be held firmly for over 5 seconds before the unit will turn on, I thought the meter was broken when I first got it because I didn't think I'd have to hold the power for so long... Overall very pleased though.

The design does not cover the power button and it cab turn on when in my brief case. But it is better than my more expensive one.

Works as good as the high end units. Wish it came with a box, made my own.

Fragile

very fragile, I had to bring back the first unit I bought after I got under a home and found it not to be working. The second unit led screen malfunction on a regular basis.

Good Enough

Check this meter for accuracy, by sticking the points in a glass of water. Mine in water always reads 50%, therefore I will double the number, anytime I check moisture levels....

Had others, this one beats all.

I have been an insurance adjuster for 40 years. I have had the pleasure to go from manual inspections to fully digital. This meter is accurate and has let me do my work much easier. The display is bright enough that can be photographed to preserve the evidence. I have had it shortly and have been able to challenge opposing opinions with ease.

best price for a really good product

I shopped around and Lowe's had the best price. It's sturdy and compact. Just what I needed.

I wonder if it is accurate

The meter seems to be designed for home maintenance -- checking for location of leaks etc. I bought mine to measure moisture in wood prior to steam bending. It does read in % but I don't know how accurate that is. I will take it to a lumber yard and compare its readings to those of the $300 meter the yard uses. As long as I know what number my meter reads on wood they measure at 20%, my needs are met - cheaply. It is easy to use and seems durable.
