What Customers Are Saying
The frosted rice paper window film provides mixed results. Some users found it effective at providing privacy and light filtration, but the majority reported issues with installation and adhesion. Many customers struggled to apply the film, which often curled, peeled, or failed to stick properly, especially along edges and corners. While a few were satisfied with the final result, the overall consensus is that the product is challenging to use and may not be worth the effort for most customers.

Would Not RecommendApplied per directions and used Gila application kit, but the film immediately started curling from the top and the bottom and fell off of window. Worthless product, waste of money and time!
Frosted Rice Paper Privacy Control Window Film
Would RecommendWe wanted some privacy for the window in the door for our garage. The garage side door faces the street side of our house. The product is decent. We followed directions closely, but still had difficulty with some bubbles that we could not brush out and one corner that would not stick, therefore only 4 stars. It does provide good privacy while still letting light filter through. The pattern is very delicate and I really do like that.

Glass Shower door privacy
Would RecommendWe used it on the outside of the glass shower door for a bit of privacy. Turned out perfect. You really can’t tell that it wasn’t supposed to be like that.

frosted rice
Would RecommendThis stuff is easy to work with and worked well for blocking the view straight to the neighbor's bedroom. UGH! But it didn't hide the cans behind my pantry door. So close up stuff not good- outside view excellent.

Not Easy to Work With
Would RecommendThis window film is not very easy to control and work. I had previously used a pvc product that was great to work with and cut, but had trouble with this product. It tore and crumpled when trying to put on the window. It looked ok once I did finally get some up, but I have spots that just won’t stay down and have some jagged edges. I will go back to pvc material.

Hard to apply
Would Not RecommendTried both the Gil’s solution and also made my own based on the recommendation on the Gil’s website. Film continues to peel off the window even after repeated passes with the squeegee. Film looks ok in areas where it’s not peeling. Wasted $30.
Frosted window paper
Would Not RecommendProduct is entirely too hard to work with. It does not slide like other window films. It sticks to whatever it touches, including itself. Product had to be reworked quite a few times.

GILA Window Film
Would RecommendI purchased the GILA film to use on a first floor bathroom window for privacy. Follow the directions carefully, take your time and do not try to rush the application process. I did not purchase the installation kit. Instead I used a small spray bottle filled with tap water a a drop of liquid dish detergent. A rubber squeegee, credit card and x-acto knife worked just fine. The application process went very smooth, better than I expected. The window looks perfect. Do not be afraid to saturate the ...

Move on to a better product
Would Not RecommendI'm a fan of window films and have used them quite a bit in the last 10 years. That being said, I won't purchase a GILA window film again. There are multiple brands available that are easier to install and adhere better. I noticed an immediate difference in quality when removing the films from the packaging in order to begin installing them. The most noticeable aspect being that the rolls of film were not smooth. I should have stopped at that point. Your time is valuable. This product isn't wor...
I would use again
Would RecommendFor the most part, once we got the "hang" of it, installation was very quick and easy. I would not try to do this alone though, much much easier with two people. We did have some issues with a few of the edges not adhering but it appeared we may have had too much application fluid there. Its been up over a week now, and those loose edges went down for the most part. It looks great, exactly the translucency I wanted and it was loads cheaper than the online specialty films. I would definitely use ...

window film
Would RecommendVery conservatively it takes 12-15 min to peel backing of film prior to applying to window. When doing a door with 15 panes of glass it adds hours onto the project. Hope they stay up as the process was labor intense.

love the design
Would RecommendIn the Massillon lowe's they told me the design was discontinued. A few years later at another location, found it and was happy to, but wondered why we were told it was discontinued. Either way put it on the shower doors we bought and it came out fantastic.

Absolutely Awful
Would Not RecommendWorst product ever. Hung the product less than a week ago following the directions to a T and it's already bubbling and peeling. Complete waste of money. So disappointed.

difficult to install
Would Not RecommendI tried twice and always got too many bubbles and the sides would not stick and stay down. I was very sure to follow the instructions EXACTLY and it still would mess up.

Pretty pattern; impossible to apply well!
Would Not RecommendI purchased this window film thinking it would be a great alternative to the California Shutters I have now in a bathroom: a more modern, clean look that will still let light through. Nothing could be further from the truth. This film is almost impossible to apply properly. The middle of the window will look fine, but the edges are a mess every time. I am pretty handy (teacher of arts and crafts, so if anyone should be able to do it neatly...) and I tried multiple times, re-applying the entire f...
