Ratings & Reviews for First Alert Hardwired (with Battery Backup) Photoelectric Interconnected Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector with Voice Alert
Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise these detectors for reliability and clear voice alerts that specify room location, enabling quick response during emergencies. The photoelectric sensor excels at detecting slow-smoldering fires, and dual smoke and carbon monoxide detection eliminates the need for separate units. Installation is effortless—customers describe it as plug-and-play with included adapters that fit existing mounts, requiring no rewiring. The interconnected system allows multiple units to communicate and sound simultaneously, providing comprehensive home protection. A small group reports occasional false alarms during cooking and notes the battery compartment is awkward to access, though most consider the investment justified for safety.

Easy to install
Would RecommendThe units were easy to install once we figured out the instructions. We loved how once the batteries were in place and the wiring was connected, there was a test announcement from the units.

Many false alarms
Would Not RecommendI bought this a few months ago and it worked as expected. About a week again it started going off randomly for fire. I vacuum the sensor area as I heard dust can cause false alarms. Every time I put it back on it goes off within a few hours. I recommend holding onto the receipt (unlike me).

False alarm galore
Would Not RecommendOwned them for less than 60 days... two out of the five had to be exchanged over false smoke alarms within that time. Then a third one and one of the newly exchanged ones started false alarming for smoke as well. Had fire dept come to verify no smoke / co2. Electrician verified good working order on electrical lines... and he installed ones he had on his truck (Kidde Photoelectric smoke only + separate co2). Absolute junk - DO NOT buy these!

Glad to have the best
Would RecommendI like that these units use Photoelectric smoke detection instead of ionization (which seems to only be good for detecting burnt toast). I also like that they have the CO2 detection built in as well, so now every room is both smoke & CO2 protected. Is it overkill to have CO2 in every room? Maybe - it's certainly about $160 more expensive in the short term - but for a once every 10 year purchase, does it really matter? Better to be safe than sorry! I love that they also come with a 10 year w...
