The installation and interfaces were easy and well thought out. I really like the location alert function and the fact that more than one of these will sound if one goes off. If the one in the basement goes off then the one upstairs will also sound. The basement unit will broadcast the words “smoke” or carbon monoxide - basement “. Multiple locations are preprogrammed. Great if you can find your Goldilocks model

I've used this line of smoke detectors for years with no issues. I like the way they interconnect. My biggest gripe is they have multiple features (interconnected or not? voice alarm or not? smoke, carbon monoxide or both? battery or hardwired?) and they don't make units that cover every combination of features. So you end up getting an alarm with added carbon monoxide detector ability (and corresponding price bump) in places where you don't need it. I'm sure that's by design. Would also really ...

I like the aesthetics, the alarm sound, and the alarm voice. I like that it is both a smoke alarm and a carbon monoxide alarm. I like that it will be less sensitive when I cook and not go off. I like First Alert's reputation.

Latest Smoke Alarm Improvements

It has been awhile since I picked smoke alarms. Changes in algorithms for photoelectric smoke alarms have supposedly made them less prone to false activations. Being able to sense carbon monoxide gas in the same alarm is a plus over having to install a separate sensing device.
