Perfect kitchen smoke detector

Great, discreet, no fuss smoke detector. It has a very small footprint. You are supposed to change out your smoke detector every 10 years, so the battery in this device lasts the life of the device. The smoke detector is effective but not overly sensitive to the point of creating false alarms. Perfect for the kitchen.

Good device, but older ones were better designed

I have some older models (purchased 2014), and some newer ones. The old ones had a CR2 battery in them. When that dies (after 4/5 years), you can drop another one in and gain the full 10 years out of the device. The newer ones do NOT have a replaceable battery. When they go, you're done. I don't like that restriction, but that's my only choice. NOTE: These are NOT legal in all areas or on New Build, as they cannot be hard wired in.

The best thing I ever did was to get these

Amazingly easy install - kindergartner easy. I was replacing a very sensitive kitchen smoke detector. The look is incredible, sleek and modern. The past owner had the wrong detector type hard wired in the kitchen so every time someone cooks, which is daily, the whole house is screeching. The dogs are also much happier with the new upgrade. I will replace and cap off all the old detectors throughout.

Absolute garbage

This alarm has a small tab on the bottom between the alarm and the base to permanently disable it. I pulled the tab thinking I was turning it on, it wasn't till later when I got my glasses to read the tiny print that the tab turns the $35 smoke alarm into a paperweight. Save your money and pick a different one.

small footprint

I love these. I’ve purchased about a dozen over the past five years. Just had first one fail. Fortunately, it failed safe by going off every 30 minutes. New battery and relocation outside did not help, so need to replace that one. Batteries dont last tem years. Maybe 3-4, but i buy in bulk and replace as needed. Have used them in past. Little steep on price but great size compared to normal large round units.

I love these!

I hate seeing those big bulky smoke detectors. These are so tiny you don't even know they are there. Love how they look in our rooms.

Great Idea

Kudos to whoever at Kidde came up with the idea of making these smoke detectors smaller. Staysout of the way and is unobtrusive.

no battery changes for ten years

when you consider what you would spend in ten years on battery changes(typically 20 9v batteries) this really is a bargain. but more importantly, you never have to worry about remembering to change the batteries, or forgetting and having the battery go weak or dead. It's small size is another big plus

Easy Install

Hard to say more than this was easy to install. I purchased it due to its compact size and found it much less intrusive than the traditional larger size smoke alarm. The alarm is more than adequate and much louder than expected for its size. Its been up for just a couple of weeks and appears to be working fine. hopefully, i never need to know how well it works in detecting a fire.

We grabbed two of these, super easy to set up and they are surprisingly very loud for their size!

Small size doesn’t sacrifice effectiveness. This unit is comparable to the bigger ones. Easy to install, less intrusive to any ceiling or wall area and now comes with sealed 10 year battery. Very nice!

these are great, small, loud, battery good for years, and cheap. when I say cheap, I mean how much is your family worth. it gives me piece of mind to know that we would have time to get out our home if a fire started in the middle of the night. we lost a family member some years ago because she didn't have any alarms, and I would never want anyone to have to bury a loved one because of a cheap battery.
