Easy install

I would have given it 5 stars except that I found that the indicator light to indicate it is receiving power was difficult to see. I just looked at again and you have to have just the correct viewing angle or else it appears that the green light is not lit. We have not had a fire since I put it up so it must be working

12 months later they are failing.

Purchased 6 of these detectors in May of 2017 to replace all of my old ones through out the house. Have worked fine until a month ago when one gave a false alarm. Replaced that one with another 3120B. Within the last two weeks 2 more have failed. Fortunately we were home for all three failures so fire departments were not called out needlessly. Will be replacing them all with something else soon. Very disappointed.

First Alert 3120B Smoke Detector

Since it is recommended that smoke detectors be replaced every ten years and ours have been in place in our house for over thirty years I felt it was time to look for new ones. I found that the First Alert model 3120B is a Consumer Reports recommended model and it has features that I was looking for (duel sensing, AC power plus battery back-up and 3rd wire networking to other smoke detectors in the house) so I choose this one. First Alert Smoke Detector

Good quality; very easy to install. 10-year warranty. Recommended!

Simple to install

Pay close attention to back-up battery polarity. Markings lack contrast, are small and difficult to see. Otherwise, simple hook up. Will beep every minute if polarity is reversed.

Excellent replacement detector

I bought 3 of these to replace 20 year old SDs, one of which had just failed (they should be replaced after 10 years). Replacement was easy, no problems but only installed for a month so far.

Greater protection

I replaced an ionic detector with this combo ionic and photovotaic detector. Only needed to replace ac connector and mounting plate to upgrade.

Great Alarm, But read this if buying at store!

First of all, this is a great alarm. I picked these to replace the original ones with my house that were 14 years old. I picked these due to the highest rating by Consumer Reports and the fact that I had to buy 6 of them. Only one didn't give me a green light right away after wiring it. After a slight readjustment, it worked fine. Easy to install

I installed 7 in my home. They replaced old BRK smoke detectors. The universal mounting plate worked without having to change any mounting screws. Have not had any false alarms.

Decent replacement of original detectors

Installed easily except I made the mistake of installing the batteries backwards. Once I fixed that all 6 that I installed were fine. Only installed for 1 week so far and no chirps except for one I heard 2 nights ago. (not sure why). Make sure to price check against Home Depot before paying for rhem.

Three out of six were defective

We purchased six of these to replace all of the original alarms in our home. We were very disappointed to find that three out of six of these were defective. The three, at separate times, would randomly begin to go off for no reason, always in the middle of the night to frustrate us that much more. We returned the three and are just hoping that the other three don't go crazy as well.

Easy to install, love the AA batteries rather than a 9V (easier to replace), better price than other dual sensor brands I've seen so far, and came with fresh Duracell batteries, exp date 2024.

Working Well So Far

Product came with everything needed. Batteries included tested strong (dated 2024). These units replaced the original BRK detectors in my house that had gone bad (> 10 yrs old - so I was due to replace them). Since I stuck with BRK I was able to use the original wiring adapter. Dual sensor Smoke detector

I ordered this product from lowes.com and the delivery was fast. The only thing I did not like is the price of the unit. While lowes did have the cheapest price around for this particular unit, I just feel that the unit itself should be cheaper. While there are cheaper units it does not provide complete protection as this one does. Whats the point of having a unit that will only go off under certain situation.
