Ratings & Reviews for First Alert BRK Hardwired (with Battery Back-Up) Dual Sensor Smoke detector
Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
The smoke detector features dual ionization and photoelectric sensors for comprehensive smoke detection. Many customers found the product easy to install and appreciated the simple battery replacement. However, a significant number reported issues with defective alarms, false alarms, and battery life concerns. While the product's performance was satisfactory for some, the high rate of reported reliability problems suggests it may not be the most dependable option.

This has a smaller base than the previous version. Makes it difficult because you need to paint so that the bigger circumfrence of the old version doesnt show differing color.

Feel Safe Now
Would RecommendLove the Sensor Smoke Detector. They were very easy to install. The ones I had were at least 15 years old and needed to be replaced. I definitely feel safer now

Double Protection
Would RecommendI never realized many people are only half protected without a dual ion and photo smoke alarm. So far no problems after installation.

Make sure it fits your home
Would RecommendWent to install in our home (built in 70s) our home hardwire did not fit this. Ended up using battery powered. Should work fine for newer homes.

Good replacement
Would RecommendThis was a good replacement for my existing one. Only complain is that the battery that came with the smoke detector was already dead.

hard wired smoke detectors
Would RecommendBought three of these for my basement pre-finish work. Electrical panels and hot water heaters (electric) are in basement, but there were not any smoke detectors. These detectors we're easy to install and connect to the rest of the detectors on the 1st and 2nd floors.

Smoke Alarm
Would RecommendI went to Lowe’s to purchase a smoke alarm detector and was surprised at the large number detectors that was available. After looking over all the types and getting confused, a salesman came over to me and went over the types and recommended one that was best for my kitchen. I installed it and could not be more happy with Lowe’s and their helpful salesman recommendation.)

Sold in yellow BRK boxes in stores
Would RecommendBought two because highly recommended by Consumer Reports and ready availability at my local Lowes. Wasted a few minutes looking at boxes of First Alert alarms before realizing the 3120B dual-sensor models are branded as BRK in yellow boxes. Was very happy to find they use AA batteries instead of 9V; however, the two Duracell batteries included with the alarm were loose in the box, marked OEM by Duracell, and undated. Will save the included batteries for less important uses and install fresh ...
