Promising replacement

 Would Recommend

The new BRK First Alert model replaces two earlier units by the same manufacturer that had outlived their anticipated 10-year life span, chirping away in spite of battery replacement. Installation was easy for a neighbor who knew what he was doing. New units have only been in place three days. The alarm test revealed they are working properly. I'm happy for silence... and, in theory, not to have to replace the back-up battery for the life of each unit, i.e. another ten years.
