Replaced old unit
Would RecommendEasy to replace. Used same brand - new unit attaches to old base. If battery door does not need to be locked remove locking pin before mounting. To remove lift paper covering locking pin and slide pin out. I used the point of the blade on a small pocket knife.

Alarm works, but I can't reassemble it!
Would Not RecommendAfter I wired up the alarm, it seemed to work great. However, I could not get the alarm to reattach to the mounting bracket, so I returned it for a different one, as instructed by a First Alert/BRK customer service representative. Also, I think I would rather replace a 9-volt battery every few years instead of replacing a $60 Smoke/CO Alarm every ten years!
