Simple replacement
Would RecommendI bought these detectors to replace 20-year old originals of the same brand. I was concerned that the new ones would have a smaller ceiling plastic latching ring and I would have to paint the ceiling around the unit to match the rest of the ceiling. The new ones have plastic rings slightly larger than the old ones so coverage of the ceiling was not a problem. I had to replace the old wiring harness which I expected, but the replacement was completed in about 5 minutes for each. I am happy with m...

prone to failure
Would Not RecommendI have 10 of these in a 5 bedroom house . we replace them every 2 or 3 years to be careful. but every summer at least once or twice the whole house goes off in the night. no one has a good solution. warranty just gets you a new unit that is just as prone to failure. found that about 20% of these go bad in the first six months.
Easy to install, work great.
Would RecommendI bought several of these to replace old ones. The install was simple and the new models seem to work perfectly. They look better as well.

Mute doesn't work well
Would Not RecommendInstalled this in my kitchen and it activated when I opened my stove. OK, shouldn't be a problem. It has a mute button. Pushed it and it only muted for a few seconds. Kept coming back on.
