This tool does a great job of sharpening drill bits. I used it on some bits that I've had for over ten years and they are just like new! The tool is easy to set up and use. They do caution you that you need both eye protection and hearing protection when using it, and I highly recommend that you use both. I've had this Drill Doctor XP for about a week now and have sharpened about 1/2 of my drill bits so far. It sharpened both my wood and metal cutting bits and I was impressed with the results. I needed to cut a hole in a metal conduit box and my old bit was taking forever, so I run it through the sharpening machine and then it made short work out of the job. This thing may be tiny but it packs a punch and is everything I hoped it would be. The unit itself is made of a thick sturdy plastic. At first it is going to look confusing on what to do and where to out things. Sharpened My Bits!

Overall, I really like the Drill Doctor. It took me a few attempts to get the bit sharp. Be sure to read the instructions thoroughly! I missed the instruction of aligning the chuck to the 118 degree mark and my first attempt resulted in a bit that didn't cut. I reread the instructions, caught my mistake and my bits were sharp after that. Bit Sharpener

Well this has to be the most useful product I have gotten. Works really well on sharpening my full or even broken drill bits. Very easily to set up and use. Doesn’t take much effort to sharpen the bits quickly and easily. Sharpened 5 bits with it right out of the box. Would recommend this to anyone!

Works well

This item works very well however there is a small learning curve. Once you fully understand the alignment markings, it works smoothly and timely. I sharpened my bit set and numerous old bits I have had for years. This is probably the best drill but sharpener I have ever used.

Drill Doctor, a must for every workshop!

I've been using drill bits for years now and have even tried to sharpen them on a grinding wheel. It never worked until I used the Drill Doctor XPK. I've converted and changed my ways - what a fantastic machine! Warning: there is a learning curve. The instruction manual is thorough but I found it difficult to understand - mostly because I did not understand drill bit architecture, nomenclature or just how they worked. Great Product

I received the Drill Doctor about a week ago. After reading the User Guide completely, I found that the sharpener was very easy to set-up and use. I sharpened all drill bits in my drill index in less than an hour. I believe that all of my drill bits are sharper now than when they were new.. Well worth the money

I received the tool with a piece missing. The wrench was listed on the bow but not included. Called the number on the paper work and one is on the way. I think the tool should have a place to store the wrench on board. It is tool specific and not used very often, just to change cutters, what are the chances of finding it when you need it? I took a broken drill bit and squared it off and tapered the flutes to rough it to size. Used the drill doctor to sharpen it and it came out great. Looks good...

A tiny grinder

First a pic is a waste of time. It looks exact like the display pic. Next, the bit holder is cheap plastic and likely will break sooner than later. But if you only have the occasional small drill bit it should be fine. It's just a grinder with the correct angle placement set for you.

GREAT TIME SAVER

Ever wasted time looking for just the right size bit only to find it too dull to use or it gets dull before the job is done? A couple of minutes with this machine and it's sharp again. At less the $100 it does and excellent job and it faster than any of the other pieces of junk I've thrown away over the years. Highly Effective, though not Straightforward

First, I will say, it works! However, this is a fairly complicated machine. Requires proper orientation of the bit in the chuck using the gauge and clamp on one end of the machine, setting the correct angle of your bit and depth against grinding wheel. The Drill Doctor was very easy to set up operate. As a big plus I was able to set up a portable table and sit down to sharpen my drill bits. I would highly recommend the Drill Doctor for anyone one wishing to keep their drill bits sharpened for each use.

This is a quality product that does a good job of sharpening drill bits. I have sharpened several dull or chipped drill bits and they all cut very well now. I only have one small issue with this sharpener. The Chuck needs to be a little tighter in the Sharpening Port. It has a little play in it and when you rotate the Chuck to sharpen the drill bit it will wiggle a little. The Drill Doctor XPK has a lot of power for sharpening dull drill bits. It is very fast and comes with well written instructions to quickly sharpen all those old drill bits you have laying around that are quite dull. I have been a technician for 40+ years and have never owned a drill bit sharpener. I have always just bought new bits. I just did not know these things could actually work, boy am I surprised.
