Bought it today. Read the directions. Ran it open full speed and it locked open never to close again. Will drive the 20 miles each way to return it. Would have been a useful addition to my hammer drill had it worked.

Great attachment

I'll say I bet that most of the negative reviews are from people that don't know how to use this thing and think it's broken. I was excited to get this item to use my with drill bits having just upgraded from a B&D drill/driver to a Dewalt impact driver. I opened the package, put it in the driver, tried to put a drill bit in it and.... couldn't get it it work. It appeared that it was locked in the full open position, I couldn't get it to close around the bit at all. I thought I'd gotten a defect...

Locks Up

Buyer beware! I am on my second Keyless Chuck and both have locked up on me. Pretty pricey item to keep buying them.

Just what I needed for my Dewalt accessory set of screw drivers and drills for use with my Black and Decker impact driver. Works great!

Great chuck

I have the Makita version of this Japanese chuck. It has the best grip of any keyless chuck. It appears that the negative reviews are by people that don't know how to use it. It has an internal impact action for tightening and loosening the bit. You first close the chuck on your bit and then hold the chuck sleeve while you run the drill to tighten. To loosen the bit, hold the chuck sleeve and run drill in reverse.

Not Worth buying

I'm electrician been in construction for over 10 years bought it to save time it locked up and would not open up the jars will be returning it today

Worse keyless chuck ive ever owned!! Should be able turn tighten it by turning it clock wise and release the bit turning it counter clock wise. Don't understand why it has some type of ratcheting mechanism on the chuck to tighten and loosen the drill bits!! Terrible product!! Wish I had kept my receipt so I could have exchanged it for a normal keyless chuck.

Hard to use

Bought a couple of years ago, and used for the first time today. I had trouble getting it to tighten and loosen. And then when I finished it locked in the full loose position, and it took me about 30 minutes to figure out how to get it to tighten again. Can't recommend this. It was not a challenging job.

Big Mistake!!

After several uses, the chuck locked and will not release! Like a previous reviewer mentioned, you have to destroy it to get it opened. Don't buy this ... it'll be a Big Mistake!

Need just the "hex 1 end - threaded other end"

I bought the 3/8" chuck w/hex adapter. I bought it so I could unscrew the 1/4" hex adapter from the chuck and use it on another 1/4" key operated chuck from another (broken) hand drill. Didn't need the chuck ... just needed that 1/4" hex adapter with the other end threaded! Why can't you buy that hex adapter part by itself?

Great chuck

Although I have just started using the chuck with an impact drill, it appears to be an excellent tool. I believe it is the best keyless chuck I have ever owned.

An Expensive Lesson

I bought this so that I could use various drill bits on my DeWalt Impact Driver. It had a tendency tol lock on and not release. Finally it locked onto something for good. I couldn't return it because in order to extract my 90 degree drill adapter that was stuck in it I had to destroy it. Only when I had it down to it's very core was I able to get it's jaws to release. I assume it isn't intended to be used with impact drivers.

Do not purchase!

My bf bought this chuck for his cordless drill to use on concrete, and the first one would not work right away. The head on the inside would not come out. We returned it, and the second one was opposite, the head on the inside came out but would not open, so I returned that one as well. It was in our garage for about 2 weeks and even had rust on it when I was returning it. The cashier thought I was lying about when I had made the purchase. We think its a defective product, and needs to be recall...

Good Chuck

Bought this to use with the Rockwell 3rill Drill, because they had not released their chuck attachment yet, most of the bits I use I don't need it, but it has come in handy a few times. Works great.

Seriously high quality

This made in Japan tool is truly industrial quality. It's beautifully finished and performs impressively. I use it with my cordless impact driver (after throwing out my previous adapter). It works great in my standard cordless drill also.
