Do not buy

Did not work out of the box. 20 out of 20 reviews on Dewalt's web site were all the same: "Chuck locks up" and either "bit is stuck" or as in my case "will not tighten" TERRIBLE

Handle with care when it is spinning.

Sturdy, locks up tight, did the job i needed done.

Ok for light drilling.

The chuck frequently loosens when backing out a drill bit and the bit will fall out.

First time I used this it locked up and I could not remove the bit. After 20 minutes I was able to remove the bit and debated whether to try again. Foolishly I thought I could make it work. I was wrong. It locked up again and I could not remove the bit.

Bit stuck in chuck

I bought this to replace a makita that broke. I used it once drilling cement. Needed to remove the bit but there is no way to do that. The neutral feature of the chuck prevents it from staying in gear to unscrew.

It opens and closes in an unusual way!

You MUST use your drill/impact driver go open and close this chuck while holding the sleeve. Forward to tighten, reverse to close. Works like a charm! Attempt to open or close it any other way and it will not work. Learn the secret and this is the best adsper youve ever had!

IT WORKED A FEW TIMES AND THEN IT WOULD NOT TIGHTEN DOWN ANYMORE UNLESS YOU SPEND ALOT OF TIME FIDDLING WITH IT . I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT. I SHOULD HAVE RETURNED IT BUT IT IS A 45 MIN DRIVE.

Bought 3, all three broke in general, light duty. One had one of the three compression sections fall out. One refused to tighten, and one failed after unscrewing the components during use. Bought some $8 from China that are holding up better.

Not what I thought...

I should have read reviews first. I too am experiencing the unscrewing of the lil joint. Put a paint mixer on and now its locked. I bought some Locktite and now we wait...

Locks and jams up

Frequently locks and jams up. Very difficult to unfreeze. Finally froze permanently. Tossed it in the trash where Dewalt belongs.

Figured out how to fix it

I bought this and had the same problem as others. My 1/8" drill bit got stuck, and when i tried to take it out, the back of the chuck unscrewed. I was pretty frustrated. To fix it, i coated the threads in red loctite and screwed it back in with the impact driver and let it hammer for a few moments. Next I let it sit for 24 hrs to let the loctite cure. After cured, i held the chuck with my left hand, reversed the impact drill and after an instant the chuck loosened up and the bit came out jus...

Failed after one use.

Used it once, opened it to remove the bit and it is stuck in the open position.

Great product. Use it every single day for work.

Respectfully, some of y’all need to learn how to use the tool before reviewing it. This chuck is the best one I’ve ever used. Durable, reliable and easy to use. I work with metal for work and this chuck keeps up with my demand without skipping a beat.

Great addition to my tool box

My Dewalt impact driver came with a set of drillbits, but no way to mount them. This device works great. You don’t need a chuck, and it releases very easily. Switching bits comes very quickly.

Not worth the time

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good idea, but not as convenient as I expected.. Chuck at times doesn't want to engage for reasons unbenounced to me.. it's awkward.and makes drill very front heavy... Love 97% of DeWalt tools... This one is definitely in the other 3%... Nice try guys, but we all know you can and will do better!

Chuck adapter

Didnt know Dewalt made these so, I had to carry 2 drills. No more. I just slide this into my impact 20 volt drill and I'm good to go with all of my old bits as well as the new ones. Great product.
