Ok, but not great

Good; Power, but should be even better. It struggles immensely on the deepest setting. Ergonomics Adjustments Cordless Negative - Dust-shoot always gets clogged up, and makes it harder for the tool to work properly. This happens with soft wood, sheetrock, mdf, osb, particleboard etc. For me this deducts the planer one star or even more. This thing is rip your face off awesome! Tons of power. Will chew through studs like my junk yard pit bulls using 2x4’s as chew toys. Seriously though, keep it away from your face or hands. It’ll mame you instantly.

Super tool... works great, knocks the edge off of any door that is too tight for the frame and gets the job done.

"edge chamfering"

Works great except for two things. You'll want to buy the dust bag as it really throws the chips.The owners manual tells you it edge chamfers,but it doesn't allow for adjustment and the cut is far too wide for simple door edging.

No Dust Bag!

I just got this planer a few days ago. I wanted to use it for an urgent project but now I have to find the dust bag and adapter first! The sander I got in a combo kit included a bag so I assumed the planer would include one. My Rigid shop vacuum hose won’t fit. I sure as heck won’t be buying a DeWalt vacuum because I don’t want to risk it not having an obvious accessory. Very short-sighted DeWalt!

Worth It

I had an inexpensive AC hand planer from Harbor Freight that died after too few uses, and rather than buy another I bit the bullet and purchased this since I already had batteries. I feared it wouldn’t be powerful enough, but I was wrong. I only needed to trim down a door in this instance, and it was way too easy. Now I wish I’d had it for some bigger recent jobs.

Good Tool

This is a nice, powerful hand planer that easily bests the coded planer I replaced. I particularly like the knob/depth of cut adjustment. It is a unique, effective way to provider precise adjustment. No dust collection bag with it, though, so I used the one off another tool for a short cut inside. For anything but the shortest cut you will need a vacuum/dust collection hose, as the bag would fill up in seconds.

Dial up and go! Love it!

Fast and easy to dial up and plane off as much as you need. Recommend taking small chunks with each pass. Bought for planing doors to size, but will use for much more in future.

Hold it with 2 hands..easier to control

Ive used it only a handfull of times but found it easy enough to use and it did exactly what i wanted it to do. Makes a helluva mess so hook up your dust collection whatever to it.

Only one side ejection... :(

Make it so you can switch from which side it ejects and I'll buy it today. Until then, I sadly have to go with the competition.

20v DEWALT Brushless Planner

The planer is fantastic. An outstanding battery powered tool. Blades easy to change. Measurement guide to adjust thickness very easy to use. Great product by DEWALT.

Nice but not ideal

These planers should come w a proper zero - and even a negative setting for safety reasons - such that one can do the finest of cuts. Adjusting the blade plate is possible but getting a real zero is actually not. The blade then fails to sit properly in its slot and provide enough edge. Out of the box the cut is deep enough that it forces the tool to track when cutting a face. Otherwise it’s got enough power and is convenient without the cord.

Great service

I haven't had much time to use the plane, but it leaves a glassy smooth surface. I had to return the first one I received because it was defective. Customer service was great and easy to work with. I got the return label shipped it off and in about a week had my new plane. I will do business with Grizzly again.
